The Hotel is beautiful. There was nothing to complain about. The Housekeepers were wonderful, and kept the room spotless. When checking in the front desk clerk "Amanda" really went out of her way to make us feel welcome. She recommended places for us to eat, and even asked if we liked our dinner when we came back. She was just wonderful. I would recommend this hotel to my friends and family. Thanks again to the staff , and Amanda for making us feel welcome....

Room Tip: We stayed on the third floor. very clean and quite.

Newer property. Really like the room layout. It had a comfortable bed with several pillow types to choose from. However it feel short on a few of my pet peeves. There are not many power outlets, especially near the desk (which is quite small). Worse, the wireless Internet was intermittent and slower than the dialup connection I used 15 years ago. Almost unusable. This is the first time I've seen hotspots listed by room numbers. Maybe 3-4 to choose from on every other floor. I like the idea but I was on an in-between floor which only resulted in so-so reception. I did try Ethernet but the wall outlets were dead. For a guy who wants to Skype with his kids every night, this was killer. Be warned.

Room Tip: Beware poor Internet speeds

The prodigal son returned home after a lifetime away. This hotel made it all the easier and simple. It has all of the big city amenities I was afraid would be missing and a few old country style extras. the location was right off the interstate and the place was top notch clean and beautiful.
Check in was a breeze. The Suite was beautiful and very reasonably priced. The Suite included mini kitchen , full bath and bedroom area right off the living room area. Very modern and beautifully furnished with free Wi-FiI and plenty of plugs and lighting.

The free breakfast buffet was really nice, the pancake machine was not working but the pastries, eggs and sausage more than made up for it. The grits were well cooked and a large assortment of cold cereals, bagels and breads. There is a large flat screen television in the old style living room and lounge of the lobby. I loved the trendy leather furniture.

Room Tip: Request a room on the front and arrive early for breakfast.

Three of my friends & I spent one night at the Holiday Express & it was wonderful!
The room was spacious, clean & well decorated! Their free continental breakfast was very good! It did get warm in the room at night, but since there were four females sharing the room, we all thought that the others were cold, so none of us spoke up! In the morning, we all said the same thing..."Should have put on the air"!!! All in all this hotel would be recommended!!

Since this is the newest hotel in town it wins by default. Some other hotels here are shabby. It is a bit out of the way for north south travelers and there are no eateries in close proximity. We were disappointed to find that the bathroom was poorly cleaned, full of hair. A young lady at the desk came and cleaned it and left an apology note and token gifts. That turned a bad experience into an acceptable stay. The place was quiet in spite of being full. The room was comfortable and not old enough to show a lot of wear. The breakfast was decent, even offering bacon along with the standard fare. Room was spacious and relatively clean in spite of bathroom re-do. The decor was modern, not really to my taste but more importantly fresh. Staff was friendly and capable. This is a four story facility which is a disadvantage to me, but overall we had a decent stay and plan on returning upon future trips.

This hotel is new enough that my business partners could not locate it on their GPS. I could since I had updated my GPS. So, if you have a problem locating it traveling from the west on 74 just keep going until you see WalMart and you are then very close, and it is on the right after WalMart. If you are traveling from the east on 74 you will see it on the left a mile or two before the GPS says you will. Once there, it is a nice clean property with adequate parking and an outdoor pool with actual space to sit around the pool. The breakfast area is large enough to handle a small crowd so seating was never a problem. Breakfast was good but if you travel a lot you will recognize the same cheese omelets and scrabled eggs. Then again, it is included in the room rate and it has the convenience of being there in the lobby so I don't want to sound like I am complaining. The room was large with a comfortable bed and flat screen TVs. The free WiFi was better than average in other hotels I've stayed. I actually thought it was fast, even on my company network. There is a train track nearby but it never woke me up. The only thing adjacent to the hotel is a Merita Bread Shop. As I mentioned above WalMart is less than a mile and their is a Fatz in the shopping center as well as a BBQ restaurant. Fatz provided my best meal, shrimp and grits, during this stay. No comment on the other meals I paid for.

Room Tip: I had an even numbered room and it overlooked the pool which was probably a great view compared to t...

We had 2 rooms at this hotel for a 4 night stay over the previous weekend. It is obvious that this is a new construction hotel and the physical plant of the hotel is in good shape. Both rooms had 2 queen sized beds with firm mattresses, refrigerator, flat sceen tv with good selection of channels, room was clea and decent sized, room also was clean. Overall the room was nice. Air conditioning could have been better as we constantly set thermostat to 60 and it took several hours before the room started to cool down. Bathroom was fairly large, the free toiletries (soap, shampoo, lotion) were pretty low quality however. Hotel has an outdoor pool which we did not use but it looked nice, so called fitness center was pretty lame..only had 1 elliptical machine and 2 treadmills (one of which did not work).

As per the service: upon entering our rooms, we noticed that one of the rooms did not have a Do Not Disturb sign, so we went down to front desk and asked for one. The desk clerk spent several minutes looking for one but eventually told us "sorry, but we don't have anymore"....i have never heard of a hotel not having enough do not disturb signs. During our 3rd night, we returned to hotel in evening to find that our room keys were deactivated, we went down to front desk to fix the problem and found front desk unattended. We stood around for 5-6 minutes before the desk clerk came in from outside, apparently she was outside taking a cigarette break. She promptly resovled the issue but did not apologize for keeping us waiting. On our last night, we arrived at hotel around 8 pm to find out that neither of our rooms were serviced by housekeeping. I called front desk to report this and was told "sorry, we con't do anything about it now, they're gone for the day....do you want us to service your room tomorrow?" I was not very satisfied with this response and i thought asking if we wanted our room serviced next day was a ridiculous question.

All in all, in spite of the service issues, this might very well be the best hotel option in Rockingham. We drove by several other hotels in Rockingham (Days Inn, Comfort Inn, Relax Inn, Best Value Inn) and they all looked pretty worn down from the outside....Holiday Inn looks brand spanking new. Hotel also offers free breakfast from 6:30 to 9:30, nothing fancy but it is free and you do get a couple of hot options (biscuits with gravy was actually pretty good).
