This place is at the end of the Cherohala Skyway which is a wonderful drive with lots of overviews and hiking opportunities. It is also at the entrance of the Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest which also offers a nice hike. The lodge is on a mountain that overlooks the valley and additional mountains from the back porch with lots of rocking chairs. Several fireplaces in the lodge and dining room/bar add to the cozy, relaxing atmosphere. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about the area and helped us plan what to do during our stay. Then there is the food which was absolutely amazing!! You have several choices for each meal and we were never disappointed. They have rooms in the lodge and several larger rooms in cabins close by the main lodge. Can't wait to return to this fabulous place!!

Loved this lodge with its big fireplaces, handsome timber & stonework, and mountain setting. Hiked east to Sunrise Point near dusk and was happy to find a metal box clearly marked and containing a flashlight (and bug spray and binoculars). We stayed in Room 1 of the Main Lodge and enjoyed its location near the cozy bar, dining room (fine dining!), and beautiful great room. Perfect place for a fall weekend. Hiked to nearby Huckleberry Knob (a grassy bald) and enjoyed watching the cedar waxwings flying in and out of the mountain ash trees to feast on the red berries. In summer there are ripe wild strawberries and huckleberries. Let the innkeeper know in advance if you have special meal requirements, like vegetarian for me.

We just returned from two nights celebrating our anniversary and it could not have been better. The location is stunning and the staff was very knowledgable about the area hikes and other activities. The food was superb and is included with the price of the roof. We stayed in the wolf cabin and had our own private hot tub that was perfect after a day of hiking. We will definitely return.

Just stayed at Snowbird for two nights to celebrate our anniversary. A beautiful lodge atop a beautiful mountain. A crackling fire greeted us in the main lodge. Crisp cool days for hiking, including a guided hike with Kathy and Joel Zachry. They were so informative, now I will be able to identify my own trees! We met some wonderful guests and all the staff were friendly and helpful. All meals are included in the price of your room. We will return.

Snowbird is so lovely in the Fall. The leaves glow, the fire is warm, there's real peace in the air. Put those sensations next to quiet, crisp fall air, good friends, excellent food, historic accommodations and one has the start of a great vacation. The outdoors beckon and hiking was excellent each day for my husband. He enjoyed hikes led by naturalists, Joel and Kathy Zachry and also went solo one day. I enjoyed the library, reading by the fireplace, and visiting with friends. Four course dinner meals by new chef Frank were upbeat and had a Mediterranean flavor. The dessert menu was awesome with pumpkin tart and pumpkin creme brulee! With costs being all inclusive for room and meals and gratuities---this is real value. We have come to Snowbird for years and look forward to our next return.

Room Tip: Lodge is rustic and historic, corner rooms larger with refrigerators. Wolfe Cottage is two separate...

It had been a few years since we'd been to Snowbird but it has simply continued getting more wonderful during that time. We'll be going back at least annually from now on. Watching the sun set from the porch rockers can't be beat. Hiking on the property and in the area, or simply sightseeing, round out the pleasures of a stay. The staff work together as an efficient team and obviously love their work. A full bar and sun porch, where we had breakfast this time, are excellent additions since our last visit. We introduced some of our family to Snowbird this trip and they fell in love with its charms immediately, the same as we did on our first visit.

Room Tip: We prefer staying in the main lodge, for its history and its wonderful rustic personality. Rooms on...

This is an old lodge that offers relaxation and excellent food. The service was excellent and staff very friendly and accommodating. There is outdoor activity available, like hiking, canoeing and fishing. Or, you may elect to just sit in one of the rockers and enjoy the view or read by the fireplace, which was burning each night. We stayed in the main building and the bed was comfortable. There is no elevator to the second floor. We will definitely go back again.
