We really had a great time here. Hiked several areas to the water falls, the smooth rock formation is really something to see. We also took a picnic with us, it's a great way to spend the day.

We took a family hike around the summit loop. There were many beautiful vistas with impressive views of the local mountains. The rock formation in this park is unique with its smooth sloping faces to walk upon. The loop trail took us 3.5 hours with a few rest stops. I would recommend taking the trail starting from the north as it is a more gradual trail. The southern route has a lot of stairs. It was better for us to go down them than climb!

Stone Mountain State Park was a great experience. There is camping, fishing, and hiking. The views were beautiful. This place is a great place for first time camping. Basically you're camping, but you're still near your car and have access to bathrooms and a shower. You also get a feel for camping. This place is great.

Stone Mountain has a great variety of beginner to intermediate trails to enjoy. The Stone Mountain loop is longer and more intensive but excellent and totally worth the climb. The full loop includes great views from the top of the mountain, great views from the bottom, adventures along a stream to a waterfall, and more. Don't miss this on a beautiful day. If you are lucky you might find a nice swimming hole on the trails off the main loop.

The full loop hike takes you past all the scenery of Stone Mountain( waterfall, rhododendron forest, homestead buildings, etc.) and lets you see this massive stone from all sides. It's only 1.1 miles longer than just hiking to the summit and then back down to the parking lot. And the view from the summit is breathtaking! Don't miss this if you are near the area. Lots of wineries near to do a wine tasting when you are finished.
