El Tenampa is an inexpensive, friendly, casual restaurant and it has what to my taste is the best Mexican food in this area, and I usually get out for well under $10 unless I have a beer or two.

We were looking for non-chain vegetarian food on I-95 (New Year's Eve) and went here based on the TripAdvisor reviews. The tortilla chips were OK, not great (to me they had a slightly burned flavor), and the salsa was neither fresh nor tasty. I had sides of potato taco and enchilada, which sounded intriguing, but had absolutely no spice or flavor, and were served in a tasteless flour tortilla. My husband thought his food was OK but felt sick the next day. Service was slow; atmosphere not cozy.

Food is bland, not sure how mexican food is bland, but it is at El Tenampa. Go back occasionally.

This is a small family run operation, staffed and managed by Guatamalans interestingly enough. Service was friendly and attentive. Food was good, freshly prepared, and came to the table hot and ready to eat. Tortilla chips and salsa that arrived at the table were fresh and tasty. Tortilla chips were obviously home made. There was a nice variety of dishes including the usual Tex-Mex. We ordered a couple of the house specials, and were very pleased. Wine list is totally unimpressive...stay with beer or soft drinks. The place is clean, but very plain. If you're looking for white tablecloth fine dining this is not it.
