With 7 guest rooms, but no restaurant, this is not quite a hotel, but with such superior accomodation, it's too good to simply class as a B&B.
From my room I had a scenic view out over the weir where there were pleasure cruisers tied up on the bend in the River Thames opposite. With a bay window I had a perfect outlook and could see The Swan pub just 70 yards or so across the way where I could get a pint and an evening meal in their restaurant. I could picture it being a popular spot in the summer with people sitting in the sun with a cool drink watching the boats go by. With a variety of decent restaurants in the area and a Bentley dealership just 100 yards up the road, Pangbourne has a somewhat upmarket feel.
With easy parking at the back of Weir View, first impressions on entering it were that it was immaculate. I was no less impressed when entering my room. With pristine king size bed, snow-white cotton sheets, flatscreen TV, fridge and mini-bar, kettle and tea/coffee facilities, phone, free wire-less internet and a beautiful (but compact) en-suite I couldn't imagine anything else I could have wanted rather than my wife to be there to share it too!
After an excellent nights sleep I discovered one of the best continental breakfasts I've seen in the breakfast room. Having searched for a night's accomodation within a reasonable distance of Reading and found a 'reasonable hotel' could cost more like £ 150.00 I can only say that, whether you are a single business traveller, or tourists, at £ 80.00 for one of their 'Standard' rooms, Weir View is likely to seem like great value.
