We have just started exploring more restaurants in Wake Forest and Rolesville after moving to the area one year ago. I am so glad we stopped at Lumpy's in Wake Forest (writing our review for the location on Trip Advisor, but it is located at 306 Wait Ave, Wake Forest).
We were immediately greeted by the owner and patiently waited as he served another customer, allowing us an opportunity to look around. The restaurant is definitely clean, but it is an older building - appropriate for its location near historic downtown Wake Forest. We glanced at the signs in the building and were so happy to read that he uses local farmers and products from North Carolina (very important to us).
The flavors (approximately 8-10) are a creation of the owner and based on customer requests. I ordered a sundae - everything was handmade, the hot fudge and the whipped cream. My son had a cone, my husband also had a sundae. The customers before us ordered sampler trays, which I will definitely try when we go again.
The owner came out to check on us as we were eating, he was very polite and very proud of his restaurant (as he should be). There is ample seating indoors and patio tables outside as well.
I highly recommend checking out this simple, yet delicious, taste of North Carolina's finest. Just be prepared to want to go back, so get that extra mile on the treadmill now.
