Restaurant has a great ambiance, excellent menu, wine list and high quality made from scratch Italian Food. Very nice outdoor seating. However, surprisingly the servers were not particularly friendly or helpful?

“Very Good Suburban Restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 1, 2013

Vivace is located in the North Hills area of Raleigh. This part of the city has been totally renovated and is now a hip part of Raleigh. Getting to North Hills is very easy as it is right off of I-440 (Raleigh Beltline). My husband and I went to this Italian restaurant to meet up with our very good friend.
Approaching this Italian restaurant gives one the feeling of a European restaurant. There were numerous people eating outside, under umbrellas. A light breeze made it very pleasant to be outside. It also made it comfortable at the bar inside as they had their large windows open. We started our night with a glass of Prosecco. Their bubbly Italian wine had a little sweetness to it, but was dry enough for us.
Since we had a reservation due to OpenTable, we proceeded to a nice table in the rear of the restaurant. We were glad we were seated there as this popular restaurant filled up even though many people had left the city for a three-day weekend. A waiter promptly showed up, and he told us about the specials and gave his recommendations. My husband took the waiter’s recommendation for their “Four Cheese Ravioli”. The ravioli was fresh and the cheeses were bold enough to tickle the palate. There was just enough tomato sauce to compliment the cheeses. I had their Insalata Caprese (salad in the style of Capri), with grilled chicken. The chicken had a nice little kick at the end, making it better than salads at most restaurants. Our meal was accompanied by a bottle of La Maialina Gertrude Toscana, from Tuscany, Italy. The red wine was a fair price and was perfect with our meals.
This is a rock solid Italian restaurant. It is not the best we had, especially since just had great Italian food in Penang, Malaysia (see our review for Il Bacaro). If you want a nice setting that is easy to get to by car, you may want to check out Vivace.

“Excellent Food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 2, 2013 via mobile

Went here with business associates. Sat outside on the patio which was nice. Excellent Caesar salad. I had the Gnudi - a delicious option. Co-workers had pasta dishes that were equally delicious. Would definitely go back next time I am in Raleigh.

“Nice place, great location!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 2, 2013

I love the location of this restaurant because it's in North Hills, which has a lot of great shopping and dining - you go for a few hours and enjoy the area. There is indoor and outdoor patio seating, which is covered with umbrella's. We enjoyed the food very much, but a bit salty. Service was excellent!! There is a lively scene, both at the bar and in the restaurant, both young profressionals, and girls night out! Will definitely be back.
