“To me, The Place is Over-rated”
Reviewed March 10, 2014

If I am going to spend a fair amount of money for a good dinner, this is not the place I'd go. it is noisy, not really comfortable, and small. The menu options are often limited, although can be interesting. We went for dinner and had to wait for our table. it was really crowded and our table was less than private, since the place is small. Service was very good and overall the evening was good, but I'd rather go to other places for a good dinner. It has it's place, is eclectic and an interesting difference from other places, but just not to my taste.

Fresh local foods... Great ever-changing menu. Service was absolutely the best... Parking a little difficult but worth the hassle. This is a must!

“Don't be put off by the facade”
Reviewed March 4, 2014

Arguably the best food in Raleigh. Don't be put off by the somewhat seedy storefront and the location nestled among government offices and parking lots The chef has been nominated for a regional James Beard award. The restaurant relies on local and regionally sourced ingredients and the menu changes daily. The macaroni and cheese (a $10 side dish) is generous enough to make a main course for two and the best I have ever tasted. But the more upscale entrees are very good as well. I had the butter poached shrimp with roasted red peppers and grits tonight, and it was tasty. My salad, which was an avocado with pink lady apple and daikon radish slices in vinaigrette, was also delightful. Be forewarned. The restaurant doesn't take reservations, so if you go on a weekend go early or go late.
