This was our first time dining at Sullivan's and we really enjoyed it.

The pluses:
- Great food, including the deviled egg appetizer, and the KC bone-in strip. The steak was so perfectly cooked and seasoned that I didn't end up using most of the bourbon peppercorn sauce I had ordered (also delicious).
- Excellent service. Our server was attentive without being overbearing. She brought us our drinks quickly, served our wine properly, and went to great lengths to seek out a glass of dessert wine for us.
- Extensive wine list, with some more unusual selections than what you typically find in the area.

The minuses:
- Weird choice for background music: Classic rock. As much as I love the hits of the 70s and 80s, this was an odd choice for an otherwise sophisticated steakhouse.
- The young lady at the front desk seemed flummoxed by our presence, even though we clearly had reservations and there were several open tables for 2 behind her in the restaurant.

3 of us went there on a fri night to celebrate our birthdays..it was a great eveng..we started with martinis in the bar..our table was waiting with a bottle of veuve clicqout chilled and ready for us..our waiter was very attentive and gave us plenty of time to enjoy our bubbly and talk...we ordered a bottle of wine..which we didnt need..but it was a birthday celebration...
the restaurant was only about half full that event...not to noisy either as i remember last time..
i decided to have the sure thing....good price...$40 for an appetizer salad and entree...well worth the money...i got the egg rolls..to die for..very very good....and the iceberg wedge..excellent dressing and the filet and shrimp for an entree...also excellent...my companions shared a caesar salad...i tried it and wasnt impressed with the dressing...had no flavor..then a shrimp cocktail ..it looked good..3 good size shrimp...and they got 2 steaks and sides..and the end they brought us 3 desserts....we had cordials and coffee afterwards....it was a wonderful evening ..

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary on this month (September); of course we wanted to celebrate at a place where the environment is romantic and the food is awesome, AH, that would be Sullivan's! :) We visited Sullivan's twice before (Valentine's Day and last year's anniversary, we just LOVE this place :) While making the reservations, we were asked if our dinning experience was for a special occasion, of which it was. We thought it was wonderful that we were asked that question. From the time we arrived at Sullivan's (on Tuesday September 3, 2013 at 7:30 pm) until we left, we were treated like royalty! We were even asked if we had any time constraints (children at home, etc); we have never been asked that question and thought it a nice touch. Everyone was so nice and pleasant, especially our waiter (she brought out a cheesecake with a candle, I know this was a simple gesture but I thought it was so wonderful). Thank you Sullivan's for the sensational service, fantastic food and making us feel so special while celebrating our anniversary; we appreciate you! Of course, I'm sending a Trip Advisor sticker your way!

We visited Sullivan's Steakhouse with friends to celebrate a birthday recently. Our friends insisted on Sullivan's as the Birthday Lady wanted a good steak.

Sullivan's is located in downtown Raleigh and once entering, it is very nice. Our table was ready and the server very professional and polite. The wine list is more than adequate as the menu very extensive although expensive. The entries run from $25 to almost $40 and everything is ala carte. An average tab can be around $75 per person with an appetizer, drinks, entree but without dessert.

One lady ordered the salmon, which was well prepared and delicious. I had the sea bass special and it may have been the best sea bass, that I've ever had. It was really delicious and the portion was quite large. The Birthday Lady ordered a steak and the other gentleman had the lamb chops. There were certainly no complaints with either sea food entree. They were both excellent. The other two people found the steak and lamb not up to their expectations. The steak was not prepared properly (too well done) and the lamb chops really small. The manager came over and apologized to the Birthday Lady but she was clearly disappointed.

The service was exceptional ! Water glasses constantly filled and every detail taken care of. Frankly, it may have been the best service I've had in years, if not ever. Had the beef been up to a reasonable standard, Sullivan's would have gotten an "Exceptional" rating.

The seafood was excellent and the service well above average for any restaurant. There are several steakhouses in the Raleigh area that are a better value and serve a better steak than Sullivan's.
