My wife and I visited mo's for the first time a few days ago, and the food was absolutely amazing. We started with the carb cake app, grilled romaine salad, and pear Gorgonzola salad. All three were outstanding but the grilled romaine salad really stood out. It was so delicious and the dressing was like none we had ever eaten. It was very smoky and complemented the salad well. The crab cake had a nice crab flavor with a delicious remoulade sauce. The pear Gorgonzola salad was probably our least favorite but was still good. For entrees my wife had the shrimp chicken andouille rice and spicy tomatoes while I had the lamb chops. Our waiter, Juan-Carlos, actually recommended my wife's dish over the dry rubbed steak so we knew it had to be delicious, but it totally blew us away. It was absolutely amazing. It was sorta like a jambalaya but the flavors were so complex and layered perfectly. My lamb chops were also very good and came with some delicious garlic mashed potatoes and fried spinach. For dessert we shared the banana napoleon which was like a banana pudding only better. It was banana slices layered in phyllo dough with a sweet custard layered in. It was to die for. Overall this is probably one of the best meals we have had over the past 4 years of living in raleigh and I can't believe it took us this long to find such a great restaurant.

As for some of the previous reviews about the parking situation. There are multiple signs inside the restaurant stating the parking lot does not belong to the restaurant, even the back page of the menu is a huge statement about not parking in that lot. If people can't read the signs outside the lot, inside the restaurant, and on the menu then they deserve a ticket.

We had dinner recently at Mo's and I was reminded again of what a nice and unique place it is. The owner has a Raleigh family history in the restaurant business and it shows in how the restaurant is run and the friendly, efficient service. The food is absolutely delicious and reasonable. Best of all, the restaurant is nice, but relaxed. You can eat inside and enjoy a great atmosphere or have a table on the front porch, which is fabulous in the Fall and Spring weather. When you go to Mo's you feel a bit transported to a more relaxed time in downtown Raleigh and you get to enjoy that a gourmet chef has moved into your neighborhood.

Table indoors by window/porch with view. Lovely porch available buy a bit warm for that our night.

Had local fish dishes, a shrimp, chicken and andouille sausage in finely spiced sauce with rice, a variation on jambalaya.

Favorite part was the banana napoleon - very unique special feuilles (leaves) and loaded with sweet bananas.

Very cordial host/waiter served us cordially and attentively. Casual decorated atmosphere is very relaxing.

Based on the name, was expecting a rather typical "diner" atmosphere and food.
Surprising, Mo's Diner is a farm to table, elegant dining experience. The location is near the state capital building; casual setting, with small, individually laid out dining rooms.
Good wine list, and great selection of meat, fish, and chicken. Server was knowledgable,
friendly and paid attention without intruding. Holly Mohajer, the owner, was very inviting and stopped by twice to make sure everything was to our liking. Very flavorful food, fish was fresh and prepared well. Definitely a recommendation for enjoyable Raleigh-area dining.

We met another couple for dinner at Mo's Diner before attending an event at Meymandi Theater and enjoyed every aspect of the experience. The restaurant is in an old house which has been adapted for intimate dining. Each of the several dining rooms has three or four tables and is beautifully decorated in period motif. The staff is excellent. The menu is excellent. The timing of the meal was tailor made. It was like dining at Grandma's house with exceptional restaurant food. I can't say enough good about our dining experience.
