Moonlight Pizza has been our favorite family restaurant for the last five years. With great seating both inside and out, fantastic fired-oven pizza, an extensive menu of salads, pizza, appetizers, and even pasta, Moonlight has it all. Not to mention, it is the BEST pizza in town and completely kid-friendly to boot (kids get crayons/chalk etc to draw, and there is a kid's menu). Nice selection of beer/wine and huge list of pizza combos, in addition to a la carte toppings menu. Friendly, efficient staff, eclectic vibe with artwork, and did I mention the lovely PATIO? Get there early on weekend nights if you want to sit outside, fyi.

Many folks assume the only new and hip restaurants in Raleigh are located downtown along Fayetteville Street or in Glenwood South. Moonlight Pizza is on the west side of town, and south of Glenwood, but in a very interesting and not so crowded area of town on the corner of West Morgan and Boylan South.

Moonlight specializes in "healthier" meal choices, but also carries the classic pepperoni and sausage pizzas and calzones. My favorite lately has been the vegetarian calzone, complete with broccoli, mushrooms, onions and tons of cheesy sauce inside a homemade whole grain wrap. The food is very good, the beer selection is nice (features several local homebrews), and the ambiance is a relaxing "urban casual". The only downside I've noticed is that when they get busy on weekend nights the service times can get long. But in my opinion, it's worth the wait.

Good pizza here. Love the Greenhouse Effect. The servers are usually nice, not fake, over-the-top-friendly, but friendly and seem appreciative of your business. Nice, laid-back place.
