I have been to this restaurant several times over the years. Their desserts are huge and delicious! Their entrees are amazingly good, too. On Valentine's Day we had scallops, salad, and filet - all fantastic. The space is small, so I recommend a reservation for parties of more than two and on holidays. The atmosphere pays homage to the 1950's/1960's with black and white photos and old movies playing.

The inside decor was stunning and reflected their service to our nation --WWII vets. The music will transport you to the days of Bobbie socks and hush puppies shoes --Tom McCanns shoes. The service was great, the staff attentive, and nice. Many pictures of WWII vets, their brides, and model planes e.g. P51 Mustang, F4U Corsair, and a B17 hanging from the ceiling. The layout reminds me of the old Woolworth stores back home as a kid drinking a Rootbear float. This is a place that is worth visiting and staying awhile.

A big thank you once again to everyone who worked so hard to make New Years Eve so special for us and everyone else who had the pleasure of enjoying Hayes Barton Grill. It is obvious that at Hayes Barton, customers are treated like family and everyone gives their best to make this a wonderful experience. This New Year's Eve was no exception.

This year's New Year's Eve dinner was very different from last years, but just as delicious! This year I'd describe it as 'light' almost as if to lift heavy hearts and look forward to the joy of a New Year.

We eat here every chance we get and are never disappointed in any way. If you've haven't had the pleasure of experiencing dinner at Hayes Barton Cafe, do yourself ta favor and do it! Our favorites - oh where to begin? If you are new to town, take a look at the specials for the night, you can't go wrong with that. Over time you will find your favorites I'm sure! The soups are delicious. I make a great Gazpacho in the spring/summer but Marget's beats mine! And, I'm stuck on the mussels as an app and the salads are excellent. We usually share a dinner so we can have every course. But don't forget dessert! I'll share a secret with anyone unfamiliar with HB (at the risk of being stoned by regular customers)..order what you want for dessert before you even put in your dinner order so they don't sell out! That line you see, they are ordering take out desserts!

I've never had anything here that wasn't excellent here and the desserts are awesome. What makes this place is the combination of food, service and atmosphere that makes it such a wonderful dining experience. It is cozy and very busy on the weekends, so be prepared to wait. Sitting around the bar is a great experience. The mussels are awesome as is the meatloaf. If you haven't been, then go!

It's not fancy. It's not big. But if you're looking for some truly out-of-this-world cake or a gooey pimiento cheese sandwich, look no further. This place is an institution, and for good reason. If you're planning on lunch, get there early-- It's very rare to snag a table without a wait. And be sure to try the coconut cake-- it's outrageously good.
