I went to Bolt with my friends during restaurant week. The service was very good, waitstaff pleasant and knowledgeable, and they didn't hover. I ordered a tuna tostada appetizer which was really good. I had the lobster mac and cheese and I loved it. A little different than I expected, but in a good way. The cheese sauce is light and didn't overpower the lobster. I ordered the brownie for dessert and it was warm and soft on the middle. I didn't share it!
It was a 3course meal at a special price for Restaurant week, so I thought it was a very good value.

“Downtown Raleigh's Brightest New Spot”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 28, 2013 via mobile

From the moment you arrive the vibe is different than any place in downtown. Taking cues from the local landscape and more importantly the Wolfpack nation and land of engineers the decor will satisfy all who bleed Wolfpack red. The unusual lighting, large bolts, wires and stainless steel bar will satisfy the cool factor. We ate in the bar in an oversized U-shape banquette, perfect for 4-6 people. We ordered cocktails and kudos to the bartender my vodka gimlet was perfect served with ice chips. It was restaurant week and we all enjoyed a different entree. Appetizers ordered by our group included the kale Caesar salad and a ahi tuna bite size succulent yum yum. Entrees included the Pork chop which my dear friend ate it down to the bone. A.D's BBQ chicken a hit with my husband, he devoured it and my girlfriend ordered the diver sea scallops on a purée bed of cauliflower. Delicious to all. I personally ordered the shrimp and grits and was impressed how creamy the grits were and succulent the shrimp tasted. I was so pleased and we were not done! Dessert offerings included the bread pudding which I have had before with the caramel whiskey sauce. Although the portion was altered for restaurant week, it was fabulous. My husband ate the brownie and he did not speak until it was gone. I can't forget to tell you about the staff, Kelly who served us all works in the bar and she always gets it right! Spot on service, correct orders and perfect cocktails. If you are driving take advantage of the valet right at the front doors, so worth it! If you go expect to see both owners on the floor. these guys are passionate about their place and I understand why. Check it out. It truly is Raleigh's newest Gem!

Thank Jullie C
