This is a new hotel in Downtown Raleigh. It is a great option while staying in Raleigh.
This hotel is on the "outside" of the heart of downtown, but is in walking distance to a lot of restaurants, clubs, and museums. It is right on Glenwood, and has tons of options for food and drink. It is close to Starbucks, McDonalds, and other chain places as well as unique local places, and great sit down dinner options like 518 West Italian Cafe.
The staff here is awesome and very helpful. The rooms are very clean and housekeeping does a great job. The continental breakfast is well stocked and is exactly what you would expect with everything from fresh fruit to hot waffles. Hot coffee is available 24 hours and often fresh cookies are at the front desk.
The pool area is nice, but not overly large. It is indoors.
While we were staying here there was a managers reception on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. They offered free food, drinks, and live music. It was great.
The hotel has conference rooms, and other meeting rooms if you need them.
Parking is a little interesting. You have to pull up out front, check in to get a key, then proceed to a parking ramp with the key to park. Parking is an additional $6 a day, but you can come and go as much as you want with your room key 24/7. They do have valet which was free and staff was friendly.
It is true that there is ear plugs in the room, but we found the noise to be just fine. The hotel is right by some Railroad tracks, but the train traffic was light. The noise didn't bother us that much and we were in a room in the middle of the hotel. The noise from other things downtown were of little bother and minimal compared to other "downtowns".
One complaint we had was the TV in the room. They are painfully SSSSLLLLLLOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! Sounds silly, but it seriously reminds me of the TV's years ago with the tubes in them that had to warm up before the set would turn on. No joke, that It is close to 30 seconds after hitting the button till there is a picture. Also, changing channels is slow as well. This isn't so much a complaint for the hotel as the TV maker I know, but just so you know the other reviews are spot on when talking about slow TV's. Then again, you probably are not coming to downtown Raleigh to watch TV.
Also, the elevators in the hotel seem a bit slow as well. We spent a lot of time waiting for them even though there was nobody in them.
If coming to Raleigh for shows or conventions stay closer to the heart of downtown. For any other trips here, this is a great option.
