I have lived in Raleigh for a million years and have driven past Players Retreat hundreds of times but never stopped in. We decided to have dinner here on a Friday night and it was great! Dark inside with lots of beer cans and bottles decorating the place (and two fish tanks randomly behind the bar) but don't let the decorating scare you. The food was very good. I had the Turkey Sheila which was a tasty sandwich with their homemade chips. Nice selection of beers and liquor. If you are looking for ambiance this is not the place for you, but the food and drinks are well worth a visit.

If you want to get a true feeling like you've been to NC State, stop by there for the real experience. It has been around since the 1950s and has the walls covered in memorabilia from team photos of the Wolfpack teams from that era to obscure stuff like softball teams from the 80's to Phillip Rivers framed jersey. They have a pair of coin operated pool tables in the room behind the bar. Also outdoor patio seating under the flags.

Excellent sandwiches and burgers, also recommend the Brunswick stew. Nice servers too.

By far the best place around campus to go for a beer and a bite to eat. This place has been around for 50+ years. I highly recommend the burgers! Very family friends, as we take our 2 little ones frequently!

PR is a rare place. It's been here a long time and like a nice wine has improved over time. The food has gotten much better and every time we have been there the service has been very good. A true one of a kind.

Seemed like a popular hangout--lots of people around. Good food--not great--but still good. Friendly service.
