“An excellent night in Brier Creek Embassy Suites”
Reviewed October 12, 2010

Wow, I planned a special night for my wife to celebrate her birthday and I secretly reserved a room at the new Embassy Suites at Brier Creek (near RDU airport). What a delight. The rooms were very spacious! The shower was roomy! Each room had a HDTV and great channel selections. I could not ask for more. Our experience was great from the great personalities at the front desk and staff throughout the hotel. I was really impressed with the Omlette Chef, he took time to talk to me and my wife and made sure our orders were correct. He really made us feel special although several hotel guests were in line too. We did enjoy the pool and the hot tub was "hot", some hotels its not more than a warm bath! We only stayed one night, but look to more returns!

The room design is stupid, the bathroom totally idiotic. No full length mirror anywhere. No towel rack in the bathroom so no place to hang used towels. New towels are under the sink in a wooden cabinet. Hair dryer is under the TV (we had to call to find out if there was one and if so where hidden). The sink is some "modern" nightmare literally an inch deep so water regularly splashes out all over. Shower takes forever to warm up and has controls with no labeling on them so good luck figuring out what all the dials are. Lighting in the bathroom is dim. No exhaust fan. How's this for stupidity - an opaque glass door for the bathroom; really nice if you have guests in your room as sound and light are transmitted. . Closet is tiny. Amenity liquids - shampoo, etc. - are in rigid plastic bottles with small openings so it's very difficult to get anything out. Desk is up against the wall with a back on it up against the plugs for your computer, so if you can pull the thing out you can plug your computer in. But the internet is not free despite the high price for the room. A rip-off. One aggravation after another. In the effort to be avant garde it just puts you on guard. Go elsewhere. This place needs to be torn down and rebuilt. Way below usual Embassy Suites.

I'm a Diamond with Hilton so you can trust this review!

Upon check in the property in nice clean and new. I had booked the suite and it looked like I was in for a nice stay based on the online photos and reviews, but I found that wasn't the case. I walked into my room and the first thing I saw was the crate looking unfinished desk with packaging still stuck on the back (see photos). Second thing was in the closet the electrical/cable box was exposed with the cover plate laying on the floor and screws next to it (see photos). Last thing was the cheap circut breaker box right in the middle of the foyer something you would see in a Holiday Inn built in the 70's.

I requested to be moved and the front desk advised me that all of the rooms had not been finished as the wrong desk had been ordered. They said they would fix the electrical panel that was on the floor, but at that time I didn't want maintenance men in my room so I made the repair myself. Also the wooden floors are nice, but add to the sounds coming from the attached room ....(Oh god bless you).. my neighbor just sneezed!... no joke!

Overall this property is not bad and worth the stay, but I didn't care for the lack of judgement in selling rooms that were not finished. Call and make sure your room is complete if so I'm sure you will have a nice stay as long as no one is in the room next to you.

The room was beautifully furnished, very clean, modern and comfortable. The suite had two large flat screen TVs. The bathroom was a good size, with marble countertops everywhere and the amenities were nice. The check-in personnel could have been friendlier. The manager's reception was atrocious. There was no sign to announce where the reception was. (It was at the bar). We were given two watered down cocktails. containing almost no alcohol. The only food offered was a large bowl of stale pretzel mix. A guest had to ask for a utensil to dip it out with, otherwise, folks were just getting it out with their hands - not too sanitary. The complimentary breakfast was adequate. The hotel is a little difficult to find - not very well marked with signs. You can see the hotel from the main road but it is difficult to determine how to get to it. However, with a little tweaking, this could be a great hotel.

Upon entering the hotel I thought "this is not your typical Embassy Suites". The decor is modern and sleek and it does not have the typical atrium style that ES are known for. It looks hip and trendy with lots of chrome and glass. The room decor was similar with a large glass enclosed shower, (no bathtub in my room) and a comfortable king bed, not really roomy but ok size. Very angular with lots of sharp edges which is ok if you are not travelling with children.

All the doors were very creaky and loud which was bothersome the entire time. It was a tight squeeze in the "kitchen" area and a chair was situated directly in front of the small refrig so you have to roll the chair out to open it. The LR wall and carpet were eggplant purple which is not relaxing at all. The bathroom was beautiful but not practical. The sink is slightly raised in the center and drains around the edges of the basin so you have to use your hand to spash water in the middle to wash down your toothpaste. There are no towel racks in the bathroom only one peg outside of the shower to hang towel, the new towels are in cubbies under the sink (how are they supposed to dry?)

The wireless is $10 a day but there is a McDonalds with free wireless in the shopping center close by. The cell phone reception is terrible throughout the hotel. I was told by FD that this is due to the "structure of the building" and they are "working on getting extra transmitters on the roof to improve reception".

The pool is for children only. Four inch deep splash areas at either end and 3 and a half feet in the middle. Fun for the kids, however extremely loud. You have to shout to be heard in there, a real assault on your senses. The volume of the area will make you cut your swim short. There is a quiet outdoor lounge area called the sky deck for relaxing with shaded areas that is accessible through the lobby.

I expect Hilton brands to have good service and this one did not dissapoint however it was not my idea of a "real ES" and I think it missed the mark for me. I like the tried and true family-friendly style of traditonal spacious embassy suites so I will choose the one in Cary or the one in Raleigh Crabtree next time I want to stay at an ES. This was too sharp of a departure from what I have come to expect from ES.

Recently stayed at this new Embassy Suites w/ spouse and two children. Hotel is brand new and the decor is gorgeous - very modern, clean lines and glass - and very clean due to newness. For some reason everything in this hotel was loud ...

Pool was also very nice but rather small with the deepest part at 3.5 feet. Inside pool area is also a kids "spray umbrella" so along with the hot tub gurgling, umbrella spray at a constant and music piped in, it can be very hard to have a conversaton in here

Speaking of loud ... a/c vent in bedroom sounded like a hair dryer on low the entire night and blew directly on your face. Also bathroom doors creaked so loudly when you moved them it was like fingernails down a chalkboard. Maybe due to no vents in the bathroom? (which I've noticed in other Embassy's as well. How do four people shower w/o the bathroom turning into a sauna every time?) Also count on airplanes overhead if that is an issue for you.

And while I'm on the bathroom .... whoever designed this wasnt thinking well. A beautiful long rectangular counter w/ the sink to the left hand side - a beautiful nouveau sink mind you - but the only electrical outlets were right beside the sink. So you have 3 feet of unused space to the right of the sink on a nice granite top while everyone is trying to use the sink and simultaneously not being electocuted by all the hair appliances balancing on the 1 inch of counter near the outlets.

Also no free WIFI! Be prepared to fork over $9.99 for 24 hrs of service. I think this is completely unacceptable when I can drive down the highway and see that Red Roof Inn has free WIFI!

Staff was very pleasant and breakfast was up to par with other Embassy's as well. Very close to many restaurants and convenient to airport.

This property just opened in June and I was very impressed. There is still some work being done on hallways, in the lobby/pool area, but certainly no bother. I checked in only to find the toilet in my room not working. I called downstairs to report the problem and was switched to a different suite immediately and the bellman brought the key up to the room so I didn't have to go back downstairs. The entire staff was very friendly and the rooms are fabulous! Obviously everything is new, but very bright and cheery. Nice large HDTVs in both the bedroom and living area. Overall everything was great at the hotel! In addition, the shopping area is right next door and there are plenty of restaurants to choose from; Longhorn, Applebees, Chilis, O'Charleys are just a few that come to mind. Without a doubt I'll return when I'm back to Raleigh.
