“Great exhibit for carpenters!”
Reviewed January 8, 2011

My husband really enjoyed the exhibit dedicated to one of nc's famous furniture makers. If you have a carpenter in your family, this free exhibit is worth it.
There was also a hands on loom/weaving demonstration that our 5 year old loved!

“Decent Free Museum in Downtown Raleigh”
Reviewed September 1, 2009

I enjoyed the Natural Science Museum more than this one, but this wasn't half bad. If you go on a weekend the parking is FREE as well nearby in the parking lot on the other side of the building.

This museum had mainly just 1 floor of exhibits and it took us (family of 4, 25-58) not even an hour to go through it, then again we were beat after exploring the Natural Science Museum across the way and the day was getting late. Nice little museum if you want to know about NC's History. Not really for the kids, let them have fun at the Natural Science Museum instead...this museum is more for grown-ups who enjoy reading about history. The gift shop was large and the people working there were nice, however, a little cautious about people exploring exhibits (security all over the place). Did not go to the paying exhibit (we are cheap).

Still, not a bad option if you are already in the area. And, I mean, it's free....

“Great Deal”
Reviewed January 7, 2007

A friend and I stumbled on this museum while walking around downtown Raleigh. While not as exciting or engaging as the Natural Science Museum across the plaza, the exhibits were interesting and gave a bit of insight into the history of North Carolina. I especially enjoyed the medical exhibit on the third floor - I have never seen anything like it!

This review is from 2007, and the medical exhibit is no longer up. However, there are other great exhibits to explore.
