We were meeting our friends for dinner and were trying to kill some time so we popped in to the North Carolina Museum of History. The exhibit was free and very fun, even had some interactive activities. Highly recommend this to any age group!

This is an excellent day trip for children and adults alike. I was impressed with the scale of the exhibits and the excellent identification of everything on display. My eight-year-old loves history and she had a blast combing through everything. She was especially enamored with the full size houses, hut and workshop that they had reconstructed inside. It's a top notch museum and FREE to visit. Why not?

Thank you for your outstanding review and I'm so glad you guys enjoyed your visit to the museum. I agree that the fact that we have two full-size houses in our The Story of NC exhibit is pretty cool!

Several quality exhibits that truly reflect the people and places of North Carolina throughout the years. Appealing to families are the child-friendly and interactive exhibits, but best of all, it's free! The traveling exhibits usually require admission, but we have always felt like we received our money's worth as they have been well done. If you have time, visit the NC Museum of Natural Sciences right next door.

Really nice place for adults and kids. It has lots of great stuff to learn and look at and on the top floor is the NC Sports H.O.F. which has many great atheletes from NC that me and the wife did not even know where from here. The best part is it is all free!

Good interesting but needs updates. Displays seem to never change. They do have temp exhibits that are pretty good. If you haven't been before and like history this is a good trip. Make a day if it go to museum across the mall and state capital

So sorry you were not happy with the rate in which exhibits change. We recently added two new free exhibits about bluegrass music in North Carolina and the Civil War paintings of Mort Kuntsler. Come by and check them out!
