The museum is very spacious and also has a nice gift shop. We loved the Gone With The Wind exhibit. It was small, but informative. The history of North Carolina was also very good. Our only and major complaint was the parking, just not enough. Be aware of this when you go. Also the staff at the desk, seemed not to know the most fundamental information about the museum. The museum needs someone at the desk that seems to care. We spent about an hour and a half here. We may go back later time.

My husband and I were down for the day and really enjoyed walking through the museum. The timeline history of North Carolina was fascinating and we could have spent a lot more time there than we did. The fact that it was free to go through made paying for parking a great bargain! We enjoyed it and hope to bring our teenagers down this summer for a day trip. Well worth the just over an hour drive from Greensboro.

The NC Museum of History is a wonderful place to go as an individual or with your family. The displays are elaborate and well-maintained. There are exhibits for people of all ages to enjoy. North Carolina's varied history is captured in an eye-appealing and meaningful manner. There are no admission fees (you can make a contribution though)---there is also a very nice gift store with many items of historical importance.

We visited more so the Natural Science building across the walkway. It is absolutely great for our kids. Although both toddlers, they were able to see and interact with so many exhibits. We went for the dinosaurs, and they are HUGE. Though not many, the quality is worth it. Animals are tops for our kids, and with the weather so cold, being inside was great. Not a fan of the cafe, however, overpriced and not great tasting. But, we spent 1.5 hours there, and that is quite a feat with active toddlers! Our second time and we will be back in a couple of months!

Free entry, extensive collections and dioramas, interactive exhibits, the whole nine yards. you won't find a better place to take the kids and spend a day. Very young children, 2-6 would rather be a block away at the Marbles Museum, so spend a half day here, a half day there, you'll enjoy the heck out of both venues.
