We recently attended the FIRST Robotics competition held at Dorton and it was so nice to have so much natural light!!! The arena was perfect for the competition and while it was kind of irriating to have all the restrooms on the lower level, there's not much to complain about. We were in and out of the arena for three days.

The ancient Dorton Arena is way out of date but is the only place that can hold the Barnum and Bailey Circus. We need a new arena.

Nice place to see a concert at the state fair. Haven't been other than that but it is worthwhile and has plenty of seating and very roomy. Will always attend concerts that are held there.

Located on the NC State Fairgrounds, I understand it is an architectural icon. Maybe check it out on Staurday when the Flea Market is packed (hours 9-6 but most start packing it in by 3:30). I think the Stones played here (which stuns me) but..... it's also near nothing so... only go if you have a reason.

This place has served its purpose and is an eyesore at the fairgrounds. I know for some it has a nostalgia factor; however, this has also long pasted. The place old, outdated, horrible seating and has horrible acoustics. Its main purpose now is for small concerts at the state fair but you can hardly understand anything through all the echoes. My suggestion would be to tear it down and build some type of small amphitheater, etc. Anything but this …
