As I travel frequently for business, I have stayed in nearly every hotel chain there is. Hilton Garden Inn is one that typically provides a relaxing stay - clean room, an exceptionally comfortable bed, fully equipped business and fitness center, professional staff etc. It is actually one of my favorite hotels, so I was looking forward to this stay.
Shortly after checking into my room, the maid quickly knocked WHILE bursting into my room - not giving me a chance to respond. This was easily excused, and I didn't think anything about it until about 3 hours later. It was shortly after 6 p.m. and this time, no knock - just a person bursting into my room while I was dressing. It was the maid again - who didn't seem to speak much English. She thrust in a couple of water bottles then left. (The seal was broken on one of them - so needless to say, I didn't drink them!) That was just weird!
I'm not one to complain, but as this was the second incident, I called the front desk to report it. The woman on duty did not provide any comfort as she said the maid staff had all gone home and that it was too late for any of them to be coming into the rooms. Then she asked if I had requested service. I had not. She made a call to someone and then came...As I travel frequently for business, I have stayed in nearly every hotel chain there is. As I was on my way out, I stopped by to talk to the staff in person. She told me that I should put the privacy sign on the door to stop any further disruptions. This was not my idea of an acceptable solution - I was not exactly comfortable leaving my things in the room knowing maid staff were running around entering people's rooms without any accountability from management..
Apparently, management is not able to control its staff and its staff is not concerned for the safety or peace of mind of its guest. I am a hilton honors member and there was no attempt to make sure that I was satisfied with my stay.More
