“Authentic Dominican”
Reviewed September 8, 2009

This place serves truly authentic Dominican food in a friendly and family oriented atmosphere. The menu includes specialties such as mofongo and pernil, and the music is mostly bachata and merengue. I've been there several times, and it has always been excellent. It is much quieter than the Malecón in Santo Domingo, and there is no ocean or palm trees, but if you order an ice cold Presidente and some mofongo you'll feel like you are there.

“Just OK-”
Reviewed February 11, 2009

Old pork has a very distinct repugnant flavor- you can certainly find it at this place. Stopped in for the especiales diarios (lunch specials) and orderd the Masita de cerdo frita (fried pork chunks)- Bad choice! Pork was old, tasted horrible, no Latin flavor or seasonongs and worst of all, it wasn't even fried! Major dissapointment- could not eat the crap. Came with a side order of rice and beans-the beans were definitely Dominican and were superb, just not enough- and the rice was perfect as well (difficult to screw up rice tho)- the Presidente was cold and fresh (no skunky flavor). The waitress was a sweetheart- attentive with just the right amount of friendly banter. Overall, I rate the experience with 2 stars out of 5 with 5 being perfect. Due to a paucity of Dominican oriented dining venues here in the Raleigh/Durham area, I will give this place another shot within the next few days or so. Hopefully, today's experience was a fluke and not indicative of the establishment's true flavor.

“Awful place, Poor Service, bad food and terrible atmosphere”
Reviewed August 3, 2008

Awful place, Poor Service, bad food and terrible atmosphere.
Went there last night; the place doesn't have proper ventilation, so all the smoke and smell from the kitchen gets into the dining area and lingers there making it a very smelly event.
The service is horrible, the waiter messed up my wife’s order, she didn’t get the correct dish and we had to pay for wrong dish the waiter gave her.
The food and drinks are pricey and not great at all; we had to wait more than an hour to get our food, and another 45 minutes for our check, for a combine two hours repulsive restaurant experience.

“Natural Drinks”
Reviewed May 28, 2008

I have visited a seperate restaurant owned by these same folks in Durham called La Regia Latina. I knew going in that there would be good food. I am happy to see that they have added alot more dominican food than their other place. I'm definetely happy that they have Natural drinks Mango,Papaya, and Morir Sonando are my favorites. The portions are huge for the $$ spent. I would say this is money well spent.

“Fun people-watching and large portions”
Reviewed March 6, 2008

Nothing fancy about this place, but good food.

If somehow you had transported there while sleeping, I think you'd wake-up thinking you were in Puerto Rico (judging by the food and the colorful customers).

The service was terrible the first night we were there, so be prepared to hound the wait-staff.

Still, portions are generous and tasty.

The margaritas are way too sweet and syrupy.
