We had a great experience last night at the Fearrington House Restaurant. We had a party of four, with my husband and his dad and girlfriend. We were greeted warmly and taken to a lovely table next to the back window, with a view of the sunset. The service was prompt, and though we were asked twice about wine or cocktails, they were very professional when we declined. We opted for the tasting menu, though I would have preferred to try some of the main menu items. All in all, most of the courses were EXCELLENT. The quail, fois gras, and venison were all highlights, as well as the unique cheese dish. The three desserts were a bit excessive, though all quite yummy. The soup starter was the only slight disappointment- while it tasted nice, there were a few bits of shell (lobster knuckles were part of the dish), which made it a little less pleasant to eat. Overall a great experience. My husband and I had been previously to stay at the house & have dinner, but this was the best overall experience we've had... in the past, service has not always been quite as friendly/professional. We do look quite young, which often results in subpar service, but in this case everyone was quite polite and warm.
I hope to return soon!
