My wife and I frequent B&B's and will always pick one over a hotel if we can... however recently we have tried B&B's that lack the whole B&B experience (help yourself yoghurt and fruit, noisy, not private etc).

We stopped by 458 West B&B on the way back from a short trip from Charlotte to Raleigh, NC. The owners have poured themselves into restoring the property for 3 years and it shows. The rooms are very nice with good tasteful decorating and decor. The artwork throughout was produced by their daughter and it is very good. Excellent experience all around and owners are very pleasant. Thank you for the great time!

Room Tip: "West Wing" was beautifully decorated and very clean.

You can be sure that next year on our way to Topsail Island this will be our overnight destination. We stayed in "The Nest" room. It was nicely done, very cozy. In fact, we went to a early dinner around 4:30 with the intentions of coming back to take a rest and then sightsee. We were so comfortable that we fell asleep; needless to say we never did make it out.
Houston and Cheryl are wonderful hosts. They shared their photo album of the renovations that they did. AMAZING! Job well done.
Breakfast was top notch, a nice variety.

Room Tip: It's difficult to choose between them, all are great.

I'd strongly recommend this BandB to anyone visiting the Chapel Hill area. It's a 15 mile drive into CH from Pittsboro.

We stayed in the Empress Room, which was very good. Large private bath and nice room. (It connects to another room and a bit of the sound from that room was audible. BandB guests tend to be quiet so it wasn't a problem for us. Not sure if the other rooms are connected but you might ask if absolute quiet is vital.) We stayed two nights.

The property itself is very attractive. The large porch with overhead fans is a great feature. There's a large yard out front where kids could play. Early coffee in the upstairs hallway is another plus.

Breakfast both mornings was above average. Houston and Cheryl were very attentive and accommodating.

I don't give many excellent ratings but this BandB is deserving.

Room Tip: Again, Empress and another room are connected, which could be an advantage for families. On the oth...

We were going to Pittsboro to visit Carolina Tiger Rescue and I had to make a last minute booking for the same night without much research. I was so blown away by this B&B. Cheryl and Houston are great hosts. They instantly made us feel at home and were very informative and helpful. Made tea for us on arrival. The renovation on the house will amaze you. The decor is gorgeous and right out of "House Beautiful" magazine. Our breakfast was SO delicious and ingredients were sourced locally. Everything they're doing is flawless. Our stay was too short so I hope we can return soon as I'm already craving Cheryl's breakfast.

My friends occupied all 5 rooms at 458 West for my wedding in Pittsboro. Everyone was from Los Angeles. They all loved their stay at 458 West. They said the hosts were great and a pleasure to joke around and talk to. Thanks Cheyl and Houston for making our wedding weekend so great!

Room Tip: They all looked great. I hung out in the house several days and would've been happy to sleep in...

We were driving my 92 year old mother down to Florida to live with one of her sisters. On the way down, we decided to stop in the Chapel Hill area to have dinner with a cousin and her husband whom we hadn't seen in many years. We needed a place to stay nearby and using Trip Advisor found the 458 West Bead and Breakfast in Pittsboro, NC. Always a little nervous when staying a place we really know very little about, we were most pleasantly surprised and pleased at just how lovely this place was and what a tremendous value it was. As we approached the place (just a few blocks off the Pittsboro traffic circle, we found it to be a large attractive frame house with a charming and large front porch set back from the road on a fairly large city lot. Entering the house on the lower level we discovered it to be a center hall colonial building with a breakfast room and an attractive sitting room on the ground floor. Upstairs were five large bedrooms, each with its own bath. Our party had reserved two of the rooms and we found both to be charming and immaculate. There was not a speck of dirt anywhere. Each room was quite different but both had modern clean bathrooms with perfectly functioning plumbing and plenty of hot water. Each room had a flat panel TV and was provisioned with a carafe of fresh filtered water, an alarm clock and a flashlight. The double beds were quite comfortable (although one of them was quite high--we stayed in that one because we weren't sure my mother would be able to climb into such a high off the ground bed). Although all five rooms were occupied the night we stayed there, we could not hear a single sound from any of the other rooms. The quiet was most welcome and greatly appreciated. Breakfast, served by our host and hostess (both wonderfully warm and friendly people) was excellent; we had French Toast accompanied by fresh strawberries, real maple syrup, orange juice and coffee. Excellent. If we go to visit our cousin again, we will stay here again. And we don't want to forget to say that the value was excellent. One room was $100/night and the other was $110/night. We had originally considered staying at a B&B somewhat closer to our cousin's house...but their price per room was around $300/night. We can't imagine that that more expensive place would have been any cleaner, any nicer or anymore friendly and welcoming that 458 West. Thanks for a most pleasant stay.

Room Tip: We only saw two of the rooms, but I'm willing to bet that any of them would be just fine.

An excellent B&B. For anyone attending the Woodwright School it is an ideal place to stay. For anyone not attending the Woodwright school it is also ideal! Newly refurbished to a very high standard and just a short walk from town. The owners Cheryl and Houston are very friendly and helpful. Excellent breakfast, free wifi, easy parking and comfortable rooms. We will definitely be staying here again next time we are in the area.
