“A very nice place to visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 4, 2008

A nice place to visit. Nice trails. Plenty of places to have a picnic by the stream.

Looking Glass Falls - a must place to stop. The water is nice & cool even on a very hot day, but be careful when walking on the rocks next to the fall.

Sliding Rock - Interesting. There is a $1 fee per person. We just went to watch. The water is very cold. If you come to slide - come early because this place gets busy.

Pisgah Fish Hatchery - we were not impressed.

Cradle of Forestry - There is a $5 fee per adult. Interesting place
to learn about the forest. We were more interested in the nature trails - especially the one by the logging train.

Pisgah Inn - A great place to stop and have lunch or dinner. (We did not stay at the Inn). The restaurant has large picture windows and the view is amazing.

“Skip Mt. Pisgah Trail”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 27, 2007

You could do better than to hike the 1.5 mile trail on Mt. Pisgah., unless you just want to do some hiking. The beginning of the trail reeks of excrement and each pile hosts a horde of massive flies. The latter half of the hike is steep and you will definitely get a good workout, but the view at the peak isn't worth it. There are just as nice views along the Blue Ridge Parkway at the outlooks.

“Pisgah National Forest near Brevard, NC”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 19, 2005

Pisgah National Forest is an eclectic mix of secluded wilderness and convenient locations.

What I like are the beautiful waterfalls and rivers.

There is primitive, backcountry camping, down winding, wilderness trails (well marked and kept!) and Davidson River Campground is right off the main road, with all the amenities and pretty sites.

There are stables inside the Forest area, and nearby is an indoor skatepark, zero gravity.

You can head over to Brevard for local art, restaurants, coffee houses, antiques. There are even a few thrift shops and a huge toy store.

I have mostly just wandered some of the roads and looked at waterfalls. You won't want to miss the easy to get to Looking Glass Falls. If you stop at the ranger station you can get maps of the others.

Pisgah Forest truly has something for everyone.
