We have been residents of Pinehurst for over four years now and this was our first visit to the 1895 Grille. We put it off because of the price but it was our anniversary so we decided to splurge. The food was outstanding. I had the shrimp cocktailI which was a generous portion and the shrimp were fresh and crisp. That was followed by the rack of lamb. It was delicious, moist and made just the way I ordered it. My husband had salad followed by the combination beef and lobster. He couldn't say enough about it. We were served a generous glass of wine and the service, Katie, was very attentive but not intrusive. For dessert we shared the sweet potato cheese cake. Unreal! We started fighting over the last bite. It was served on a large plate and the plate was decorated with chocolate writing with Happy Anniversary on it. Made our night. It was quite pricey but well worth it. We will definitely revisit.
We read the other review regarding dress code. We appreciate a restaurant where we don't have to see people wearing jeans, no matter how expensive they are. It's resort casual to dress and we like a dinner out once in a while where we can dress up a little.

After traveling all day, we spent the night at the Carolina and dined here. The food was very good. It was not a romantic restaurant and really is designed for fine dining for golf groups. The chicken dish was good and the fish a bit dry but all in all it was fine. It was walkable from the hotel and easily satisfied our needs

Great meal, great service, fantastic. Our fourth time here, it's always a very special evening. If you are staying in the Carolina Hotel, make a point to dine here one night. If you can, stay here at the inn, it is quite nice.

What an incredible meal. Food was delicious. The service was great! What a wonderfully historic room! This is a "special event" place for us. It is expensive, but worth the occasional splurge. This is a good place for couples or groups. Be sure to enjoy the Thomas Jefferson rolls. They even gave me the recipe!

It is the only 5 star restaurant in Pinehurst. If you have a meal plan at The Carolina you can eat here for free. Make reservations and the shuttle will take you to the restaurant.
