We live in Pinehurst and had never been to the Holly Inn Tavern Restaurant. Our neighbors took us there. It was AWFUL. The service was very SLOW. It took a long time to get our drinks. When we got them the waitress said I'll be back to take your order. It was about 10 min. before she came back. Then, she brought the wrong sandwich. When we ordered dessert, one was wrong. We ordered Key Lime pie and she came back with cheesecake. She went back to the kitchen and came back about 10 min. later and said they were out. If we wanted the cheesecake it would be on the house. We said no. Wanted to try the Key Lime pie. The waitress had to be asked by our neighbor to please clear the table before dessert. Which took forever. Our neighbor didn't get her coffee until she had finished her dessert. Then, they add a service charge of 15% for 4 people. I'm used to a flat tip for parties of 6 or more. Of course they're not in any hurry to serve you, the tip is already added to the bill.

Living in Pinehurst, I was very embarrassed and so was our neighbor who took us there.

Yes, the dining room (the 1895 Room) at the Holly Inn is wonderful, yes, yes, yes! But, for a casual, comfortable meal in a fantastic setting one must go to the Tavern. A step back in time with present day food. Every dish must be tried. On a recent rainy Saturday, 5 of us all had different things and each raved. Mine? It was the best, the Farmer's Salad - fried goat cheese, fig compote, grapes, red wine dressing. What a combination of flavors. One in our party ordered the fish and chips and thought he had received an entire fish. He managed to devour it, because it was so good. My husband had a pasta and chicken dish that he too devoured. The Holly is truly my favorite spot in the Village of Pinehurst. If the weather permits, do sit on the patio. If you can't go there to eat, just walk in the Holly Inn and look around. I take all my out of town guests through, just to see how charming it is.

The food is unique and delicious. The downtown village of Pinehurst is quaint and scenic. The indoor dining is delightful as is sitting outside underneath the beautiful Carolina sky. A very nice eating experience, all around.

My husband and I travelled to Pinehurst with his brother and sister-in-law last month. While the weather did not cooperate, we had some great dining experiences. We ate at the 1895 Grill and the Carolina Room. However, on our last night we dined at the pub at the Holly Inn. We loved it better than any meal we had at the Resort. The manager was very welcoming and the staff was attentive. We liked the more casual atmosphere while still having that pub/clubby type atmosphere. There are no reservations, so during busy times come early or wait at the bar for a table. The outside patio looked great too but we had bad weather. Now one of the main reasons I loved this place is the "to die for" fresh cut potato chips. Man, were they great!! There is also a very nice menu with burgers, steaks, etc. and well prepared. Good drinks, great atmosphere, reasonable prices (for Pinehurst), and good service. A real treat. Thanks
