“Good course not great”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2013 via mobile

Unfortunately our expectations were very, very high. Hosting major tournaments and hearing Pete Dye say this was the best course (or his favorite) of the courses he did not design, set our expectations. The course was in good condition. The caddy (Jamie) was excellent. The course is a good one but nothing unique like National, Pine Valley, Seminole, Cyprus, etc. No need to return. It will be more enjoyable watching the US Open in June

Incredible place, this should be on the bucket list if not already - ask the caddie master for Rocky if you want to make putts!

“Hallowed ground and a challenge for golfers at all levels.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2013

Not the prettiest course, but the history makes a round there worthwhile. Course is very challenging, but it was fun to play. A caddy is a necessity on Course 2.

and play #4 and #8, or at Dormie. This is a world class course, and in pretty good condition. However, the sand in the bunkers is poor to fair, and for $464+ I expect more. A major challenge, as are most courses that host majors, and you have to work on each shot.

“Great golf course”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2013

Golf course is in great condition and has been renovated for the 2014 Opens. Play is generally slow (~5hr). Take a caddy ($55 + tip of $40-$80/bag) to get the best out of your round.
