We stayed in the "villas" section. Pros: large room, double sink area, comfortable bed and pillows, convenient shuttle service, cool historical memorabilia. Cons: paper-thin walls (could hear entire conversations of guests next door), weird location of tv beside the beds, never could get wifi to work, $62 breakfast for two @ Holly Inn (really???? buffet that wasn't even that good...)

The Carolina and the Spa at Pinehurst are the best place to relax. The Carolina is comfortable, well maintained and caters to your needs. Drive up and the valet will take your bags, your car and your golf clubs and deliver them all to the right place. Tea is served in the lobby at 4:00. Breakfast at the Carolina is awesome. Full buffet with made to order omelets and anything else you can think of. The shuttle will take you to all the other properties for dining or golfing. The spa is located next door and couldn't be any better. Lots of treatment rooms for massage, facials, body wraps. Relax before or after your treatments by the indoor pool or hot tub or in the quiet room.

Wonderful hotel and spa with plenty of walkways and a quaint little town. It's like taking a step back in time! The hotel and grounds haven't changed much over the years. I think that the spa is an awesome addition, someplace for the non-golfers to go and relax. My husband got to play the #2 course, home of the 2014 Men's and Women's Open. I've only seen him that excited about playing a course, when he played The Old Course in St.Andrews last summer! GO! Visit this historic town in the south!

If you're just looking for a place to stop when you're motoring through, don't bother. But, if you want to spend a day or two relaxing this is the place in NC.

The rooms are nice and comfortable. Nothing austentatious, just clean and comfortable. (The bed and pillows are amazing!).

It's an old joint (1800's) so if you're looking for modern, you've picked the wrong place, but its age adds a classic charm and in no way detracts from the peacfulness or comfort.

The Spa is the most amazing I have been in. Private areas for each gender include hot tubs, saunas, and steam rooms, with ample areas to sit and relax. Read a book...but no electronics with cameras so leave your iPad in the room? Then there's the large "public" area (read here no nudity). But you can lounge around in your robe, enjoy a delicious meal, slurp a delicious fresh strawberry smoothy, swim a few laps in the pool, or relax in the large hot tub, all while waiting for your luxurious massage at the hands of one of their GREAT therapists.

Breakfast in the Carolina dining room is no continental. A full service buffet and grill with EVERYTHING for the breakfast lover is there. (Except cottage cheese curiously enough). But hey, you can never go wrong with all the bacon you can eat!

Didn't have the pleasure of a round on one of their famous courses, but there was snow the night before.

Bottom line, if you're looking to relax, and maybe spoil someone special, look no further.

Room Tip: All three buildings are old, but the rooms are all nice. The Carolina is the most convenient (Close...

We have stayed numerous times at The Carolina Inn-- it's always been great.. The play of Pinehurst #2 was a "bucket list" wish of my wife. It's now accomplished. What a treat!! What a nice time!! Everyone. and everything there was superb, and makes us coming back to Pinehurst indeed another "to do" -even if the bucket list is filled up!!
Recommend this expereince to everyone- at least once in your life.. As the adage goes - You deserve it-You are worth it- so go do it!!

Room Tip: all rooms have always been nice- you really can;t go wrong.

The facilities are wonderful. The atmosphere is charming and comforting. The food is outstanding. But the best part of the Carolina is the customer service. I have travelled all around the world and I have only rarely seen the service at the Carolina be equalled. It feels like coming home every time we visit.

Simply put, beyond expectations. All staff seemed into my being there. Helpful, genuine and considerate. Food in the dining room was excellent as well, making going off grounds not necessary. Can/t wait to go back, as this is more than a once in your life experience.

Room Tip: I stayed at the Carolina, as the other less expensive option was closed for the winter season. If s...
