“A quiet spot tucked away in the woods”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 17, 2013

A little hard to find, off the beaten path but worth the trek. The inn is clean, cozy and hosts Bridget and David are wonderful. Rooms are well maintained and there is always hot coffee or treats out for a snack. Individual food allergies or likes are asked for and remembered at breakfast.

We have stayed here twice and found both stays welcoming. The area around is prefect for hiker/biker activities, and it is not too far to black mountain for a dinner out.

Room Tip: We like the rooms in the lake house which have a fireplace and semi private deck

There are several things that brought us back: 1) Dave and Bridgette are superb hosts, 2) the property is surrounded by the mountains we love, 3) the room we stayed in, The Maple Room (down by the mill pond) is so comfortable, 4) the breakfast is to die for, 5) it is really convenient to Black Mountain, one of our favorite mountain towns. I'm sure we'll come back again!

This was the first stay for myself and teenage sons, and hopefully not our last. Bridgette and Dave have created a comfortable, yet elegant and relaxing retreat. The morning breakfasts were outstanding. The winding road up the mountain, the hiking trails, the location, the little town of Black Mountain, all were idyllic. The little touches at the Inn made it a notch above. Soda in the fridge, a game a Risk, snacks in the kitchen ( LOVED the pumpkin break) movie collection, washer/dryer (we were able to wash clothes from my sons 7 week wildnerness experience- wew!), the very large projector TV in the main house, the deck off the back of our loft room, all made it all special. As a Suws graduate parent, I was with a group of other parents all experiencing this very emotional experience, the sensitivity and care provided by both Dave and Bridgette went well above what was expected.
The Inn at Mill Creek will be on my list for a future stay.

The scenic pictures on the website originally caught my attention when trying to decide where to stay on this segment of our vacation in North Carolina.
I am happy to say that the Inn was as pictured, nestled in the woods, with the fall leaves in full color. Getting to it was easy enough but expect to travel a few miles on a gravel mountain road to get there.
The Inn was comfortable, the hosts were gracious, and our room (North Terrace) was spacious and nicely appointed with all the amenities (flat screen, fireplace, large bath). Our breakfasts were wonderful - hearty, fresh and nutritious - certainly a great start to the day. If you want to stay somewhere close to Black Mountain and Asheville, this is the place.

Room Tip: The North Terrace room has its own entrance and patio separate from the other rooms in the house. Y...

Brigette and Dave have perfected the art of a mountain retreat - beautiful and restful location, lovely, well kept inn and oh so wonderful breakfasts and treats! We can't recommend the Inn at Mill Creek highly enough - it is exceptional in every way and we will continue to return as often as we are in the area. Bravo!

We have stayed at The Inn on Mill Creek so many times I can't count them all. We found the Inn at least 7, maybe 8 years ago. We saw the sign for a bed & breakfast and started driving down a secluded mountain road. It was just myself (a mom) and her young son. It was dusk and I got spooked so I turned around and went back to the town of Black Mountain. When I got back to Florida the following week, I looked up the Inn and called and spoke to Dave, the owner. He assured me we weren't going to drive into the woods never to be seen again. We then booked a room and we've gone back every year since! Dave and Bridgette are wonderful B&B hosts and now good friends. They know the area; where to hike, where to eat, where to shop. The breakfasts are great. The Inn is quiet except for the occasional whistle of the lonesome train that rounds the mountain a few times a day. I love the sound of that train! If you are looking for the ideal get-away then this is it!

This was a wonderful experience! We stayed in the Mountain Laurel room. It was clean, quiet, lovely and very comfortable. The innkeepers, Dave and Bridgette, are friendly and charming folks who are eager to make your stay wonderful. They were so helpful providing brochures and maps and advice for the area. The breakfasts were delicious, and they did not mind accommodating my husband's special request. The location in the Pisgah National Forest is beautiful and isolated. We met several folks staying there that were on repeat visits. We would definitely stay in this B&B again if we went back to North Carolina to visit.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Lake House which is detached from the main house. It has 3 rooms and a shared kitc...
