“Beautiful view of the harbor”
Reviewed May 10, 2014

Very friendly staff and very accommodating. Rooms were very clean and quiet. Beds were very comfortable. Since the inn is near the end of the street, there is hardly any traffic. Beautiful view of the harbor. Nice dock beside the office with seating to watch the boats in harbor, the ferries coming and going or just sit and relax reading a book and take in the sunshine. My son and I walked easily to several shops in village. Enjoyed our stay here.

Staying at The Ocracoke Harbor Inn was definitely a good choice for a first time. My friend, who came from Colombia to visit me during her vacations, and I stayed for two night and we're very impressed. This place was recommended by an acquaintance who stays here every year. She recommended the room that is located across the street from the main building above the office but unfortunately when I called to make reservations the room was already booked. Instead we stayed in a room, 202, on the second floor which had a good view to the harbor. The appearance of the room was excellent, it was clean and nicely decorated. The balcony and the view of the harbor was a plus. The Ocracoke Lighthouse was just around the corner from it and it was within walking distance from where everything is. You can rent bikes and golf carts at the front office which makes it a one shop stop. The included continental breakfast and free Wi Fi added more reason to why this was a good choice. Totally recommended to anyone who wants to adventure the outer banks and is looking to stay at a peaceful and relaxing place. Highly recommend to come to Ocracoke mid spring (mid April-mid May) because the weather is just perfect to avoid bugs and to avoid the crowd that the summer brings. I would also recommend late summer or even fall.

We just spent two nights here and would definitely stay again. The staff was very courteous and helpful and our room quite comfortable. We had a harbor view king on the second floor. It had a small kitchenette, which made it simple to prepare our own meals if we wanted to.

Be aware, however, that if a bright room bothers you this might not be a good choice as the front wall is all window, which is covered by translucent, white vertical blinds. It didn't bother me but could definitely be an issue for someone used to blackout window coverings. This is the only reason I didn't give 5 stars.

The continental breakfast was fairly typical - bagels, muffins, cereal, fruit, coffee, juice, and a selection of teas. Adequate but nothing special.

The location is excellent. You can walk or bike to anything in the village.

My boyfriend and I spent 3 nights at another place on Ocracoke and we wanted to stay a few more nights. We stopped by this inn and got a room for 2 nights. The owner and staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We were thrilled with the room which was over the office. It overlooks Silver Lake and the view is beautiful. The room was spotless and had a lovely jacuzzi tub right in the room. Breakfast was included. They also rent bikes and golf carts which is what most people use instead of cars while on the island. We were so lucky to find this gem for our last nights!

Room Tip: Room 401 would be a great for a honeymoon !

Ocracoke is a great place to visit and the Ocracoke Harbor Inn is a pleasant place to stay. We had a suite, # 301 which was perfect- on the top floor on the end. It is one bedroom witha large sitting room which has a sofa bed . The sofa bed has a regular mattress that you ad air to with an electric pump. This makes it much more comfortable than a regular sofa pullout bed! There are 2 TVs and a private balcony . You can see the Pamlico sound ferries from your room. Most restaurants and shops are within walking distance or by using a rental golf cart. The cart was fun to peel around in and explore the back streets of the town. We will be back!

We have stayed at the Harbor Inn a number of times. It is usually pleasant, clean, well-cooled, etc. But for the money, there are places in town with nicer beds and better breakfast. Still, if you have a room on the front of the hotel overlooking Silver Lake, or if you venture out onto their dock to watch the sunset, it can be pretty sweet. As to folks complaining about bugs, etc., try late Spring or early Summer, when conditions are more pleasant on the Island.

Room Tip: Get a room IN FRONT of the hotel, with a view.

This is the perfect motel for an island experience, overlooking a beautiful lake/harbor. Our room overlooked the harbor, over a grassy lawn. Very nice, clean, but not commercial. This is a nice getaway place. Great local restaurants on an island of about 800 inhabitants. Rent a golf cart, and enjoy an island tour. Very nice people, friendly and helpful.
