“Excellent stroll to see Blackbeard's place of demise”

Edward Teach (Blackbeard) was killed just off the coast of Springer's Point. The path through the woods is not long and is a refreshing change from the hot sun on the beach. Walking through the foliage, you can only imagine how the island may have looked before civilization arrived. It is very serene. You can catch an incredible sunset from the beach area as you are facing SW.

It's best if you ride your bike or walk to the path as there is no parking available. There is a church near by where you can park your car if you must drive.

It's a delightful walk under shaded canopy for the most part. Well worth it just to sit on the little beach and let time slip away. Wear bugspray.

The plant life on the walk to the beach was just gorgeous. Lots of variety and some signs along the way to identify specific plants/trees (watch out for the poison ivy, though). The beach was a peaceful place to sit and watch the ships go by.

Loved the walk to Springer's Point: quiet, peaceful, and scenic. Had I brought a book, I would have stayed there for hours.

The walk to the beach is nice; great trees. But I wished it was more remote or had a longer span of beach. It had a fair amount of foot traffic on the beach while we were there. Folks just walking by, not spending the day. It was nice to watch the kayaks and boats go by though.
