“Great place for the family”
Reviewed July 4, 2014

Edwards of Ocracoke is a great place for the price. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and the property is immacculate. Our 2 bedroom cottage was in pristine condition. The bathroom is very clean and has a very nice built in shower. The kitchenette is very useful and stocked with very useable equipment. You can easily cook here if you want to make a few breakfasts of simple dinners in. The place is within a few walking minutes of cool restaurants, galleries and places to get your morning coffee. You will need to drive to the beach, but unless you have a waterfront rental, so does everyone else.

One tip for newcomers is that the island allows golf carts on the public roads. We were lucky to rent one and the family had a blast crusing all around the town on the cart. Highly recommned calling ahead and getting a cart.

We stayed 4 nights in June. Wish we had more time to spend there. Ocracoke is a gem and Edwards is part of the fun. We had a big courtyard room. All well kept and very clean. Everyone was very friendly. On top of the place being nice and clean the location is perfect. All the best restaurants are in easy walking distance (including the new Flying Melon location). We'll be back. We pray "Arthur" isn't going to hit the folks there too hard.

Can't beat a place that allows you to wash your reels and rods at the outdoor shower and has a fish cleaning table set up that is awesome. Rooms and baths are always clean and comfortable. Located slightly off the beaten path but close enough to everything. Always recommend Edwards!

I have been at Edwards about 5 times, and each time it is perfect!! Clean, charming and perfect location to just walk around the village. Ocracoke Island is retro, charming and the beach is phenomenal.

Just returned from Ocracoke & stayed at Edwards for 3 nights in an efficiency. The room was very clean with a 50's vibe. Large room with a refrig & stove. We also had a screened in porch. My only complaint is the size of the shower, so tiny. Almost had to step out to turn around. Other than that it is a nice place with very friendly staff.

Room Tip: We have stayed in the Bungalow rooms before & they are nice & roomy with larger showers.

My husband and I just completed our second stay at Edwards (in a bungalow room). We love it--the clean, retro rooms; the friendly accommodating staff, the location, and the price. Edwards has a loyal following, and it can be difficult to book on summer and festival weekends. Book early.

The bungalow rooms are small (cozy), but there is plenty of room for a couple for a short stay. The porch is well shaded. There's ample enough parking. Bike racks are quite close by. Laundry facilities and ice are available on site. Wifi is reliable. Quiet hours are in place from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM. Unless, you want a room with a view of the harbor, sound, or canals, Edwards is ideal. It's right off Back Road, and a quick zip to the village for bikers and those with golf carts.

There is no coffee maker, refrigerator, or hair dryer in the bungalow rooms, so pack or adapt accordingly. The TV is small, but we wouldn't miss it if it were not there at all.

Room Tip: For a longer stay, book a courtyard room or cottage. The rooms are soundproof, but thus far, that ha...

The grounds are kept in very good condition, and the owners are very nice helpful people. We checked in and it turned out that their mattresses are very firm, which after numerous Back Surgeries I could not sleep on that bed. The room was also much smaller than I expected. The owners were nice enough to refund our money. If they purchased more comfortable mattresses I would stay there because it was peaceful and off the beaten path.
