“Love horses, check out the pony pens.”
Reviewed August 24, 2012

This was a good trip several of the horses were up front and easily visible. Sometimes none of the ponies are visible and that can be frustrating but what can you do??

“Penned in”
Reviewed August 23, 2012

These are decendants of the original horses from years gone by. You can park and walk around, bring bug spray. Nice for the kids to see them in the pen.

“Should Have Kept Going”
Reviewed August 18, 2012

Stopping for 5 minutes made us almost miss the ferry. Three normal-looking ponies in a pen. Tell me again why I stopped?

“Not wild at all.”
Reviewed August 16, 2012

These ponies once roamed wild on Ocracoke, but haven't in a long time. If you want to see how these beauties should live, you need to head down to Shackleford Banks. And you CAN'T feed real wild banker ponies. They're adapted to the sea oats and don't eat grains or hay. When they encourage you to feed the Ocracoke ponies, that tells you right there that they are NOT wild. Skip this, head down to Beaufort and go see some ponies that are still living as they did 400 years ago - not in a pen.
