“Great place for Pictures”
Reviewed October 14, 2013

This is a small lighthouse, but the oldest on the Outer Banks. A lovely boardwalk leads to it, and it is an awesome place to take photographs. We could not go into it on the day we were there, but I would be interested in doing that if it ever open.
Ocracoke itself is a lovely place to visit, and we found no one to be rude or in any way anything but helpful. Perhaps having your home overrun by tourists grates on some nerves, but most realize that it is these very tourists who keep their tiny island home alive.

“Worth the ferry ride to see it”
Reviewed October 14, 2013

You'll need to take the free ferry from Hatteras to Ocracoke to see this lighthouse but you'll want to. It's the oldest one on the East Coast. It's not as spectacular as the others on the Outer Banks but it's history makes it worth the visit. You cannot climb this one but you can walk right up to it.

“Pretty.”
Reviewed October 14, 2013

The lighthouse surprises you as you come up on it in the neighborhood. Not as extensive as the others in space and it has no one to answer questions. Parking is small. But you get to meet a lovely tabby Ocracat, who greets you! I love lighthouse and was happy to get to this cozy one.

“is beautiful to visit”
Reviewed October 14, 2013 via mobile

The Ocracoke Island Lighthouse is a must see if you visit the island. Although you cannot enter it, it makes a beautiful backdrop for family and in my case wedding photos. There is no charge to see the lighthouse. It adds to the magic of the island.

“Beautiful lighthouse.”

You aren't able to climb to the top, but you can go inside at ground level and look up. Interesting history, too.
