“Great place to stay with your dog!”

This was our third or fourth trip to the Anchorage Inn so we knew what to expect. It's defintely a no-frills motel, but it's clean and the staff is friendly to both us and our dog. The furniture could use a little updating and the beds were a little small, but we like it because the view is wonderful and our dog is welcome. We'll be back next year.

We stayed for several days at the Anchorage Inn with our pet. We had a great stay. The only suggestion I have is to further enforce the pick up after your pet policy. Other than that the room was clean and the location was wonderful. The staff was helpful and friendly.

We stayed on September 21st, a Monday night in the off season, and paid $109 which was the best rate they gave us. Upon checking in, the owner was short and a bit rude. Upon arrival to room, we were greeted with a old moldy hotel room smell. We tried to open the windows but guess what, they were completly screwed closed. So, we had to relay on the old AC system in the room to blow air in. Fortunatly we had candles in the car so we lit those up to make the room smell better. Other features are a 13" 20 year old TV on a ricky metal stand, a mattress that is probably 20 years old minimum, terrible bath amenities (small bar of crappy soap), thin towels, and nasty carpet (maybe the bad smell?). The only good thing about the hotel are the views and the public porch in front of your room that has Adirondack chairs on it. Would not reccomend as a bad value for sure and I will camp out next time as a better value to sleep in a tent.

We have never stayed at the Anchorage before but this trip we needed dog friendly hotel. Anchorage was fairly priced and was extremely clean (being a pet room, we were happy to smell the obvious bleach!) The room was on the smaller side and the furnishings could really use some updating. The little breakfast offerings were perfect for our kids and us as well. The office staff was very friendly, helpful and welcoming. The kids enjoyed the pool. We liked the location and found it to be situated in close proximity to all the sights. We would come again.

From the shared balcony of our third floor room, there were amazing views across the harbor, including the Ocracoke Lighthouse. The location was very convenient to most things in the village. The room was no frills: very small for a double; definitely in need of an update; but clean. Considering the view, the price (with AAA discount) seemed reasonable compared to other properties. The complimentary breakfast available in the office is not a strong selling point. The options consisted of packaged mini-muffins, instant grits, instant oatmeal, coffee and juice. Overall, it met our needs for a single night stay as we passed through Ocracoke. We wanted a clean room with nice views, which the Anchorage Inn provided. I would probably consider other options for a longer stay.

The Anchorage has a great view from the balconies of the harbor and big sailboats docked right across the street where Austin Boat Tours is also. If you don't mind the drunks from the bar across the street stumbling in late at night and you are the heavy duty party type that's fine too I guess. But for being one of the most expensive places to stay we thought it was a bit dumpy. Some of the finish in the room looked like it had been done by some homeless guy. The bathroom door wouldn't actually close and the old, worn out fixtures haven't been replaced in years. Ours was an efficiency with the kitchen area tucked into what must have been a walk in closet with a really cheap, tiny coffee pot and bar stools we thought were actually funny for the space. One night here for the view and location might be fine, but you would be much better off somewhere less expensive as your base to explore Ocracoke and it's great beaches.

The location was great and we really enjoyed listening to the music right across the street on Saturday night. There is no private balcony and the furniture in the room was old, although everything was clean. The pool seemed to attract groups of drinkers, rather than children or those who wanted to exercise. Overall, an okay value, although very basic.
