Nice nature walk would be easy for kids too. Has nice plaques along explaining some trees and such. Nice out look area at the end of the trail. Good morning walk for us.

“Short but special trail”
Reviewed June 13, 2013

This place offers a total break from the sand and surf--I've never seen a varied forest like this so close to the ocean.

It's a short loop, about 3/4 of a mile, but you see a real range of ecosystems--marsh, pine forest, maritime, etc. Along the paths, there are signs explaining the various plants/trees/animals. Did you know that there are no deer on Ocracoke because there isn't enough vegetation to support them?

The trail is a fairly easy walk, but it gets a bit hilly and rougher in places. Bring the bug spray, as the gnats and horseflies can get a little aggressive. The entrance is directly across from the campground on Route 12, north of the town.

“Nice walk”
Reviewed May 8, 2013

This was a nice trail with signs explaining the foliage. It's secluded and well taken care of. 3/4 of mile with a scenic overlook. Enjoyable.

“Nature Trails”

A beautiful day trip at the Crystal Coast. Pack a picnic and bug spray. Walk for miles or just sit in the woods and enjoy the peace and quiet.

“interesting if you have time to work it in”
Reviewed October 1, 2012

It is a small 3/4 mile walk in the local area. It was neat to be out in the underbrush because it was different than our scenery back home.
