We just back from staying at this hotel and it was wonderful. We stayed in a two bedroom suite facing the ocean. It was very easy access to the beach, which is lovely. Our rooms were very clean and the maid did a great job helping us to keep it that way. They have a great hot breakfast in the morning and the staff is very friendly. There is tiki bar by the pool which is right next to the beach. You come off the sand, wash off all the sand in the showers and then hit the pool. Wonderful feeling. The bigger pool is even nicer! Very tropical feel and we loved every moment of it. Highly recommend!!! Ocean Isle itself is wonderful very low key and not a whole lot to do but beach it. One putt a putt and a creamery. But Myrtle beach is only a half hour away if you need more action one day.

Thank you so very much for taking the time to share your travel experience with us and with others. We are so happy to hear you enjoyed your vacation at The Winds. You are right, Ocean Isle Beach is a much different place than the busy neon and concrete area of Myrtle Beach, but it is the perfect distance for a quick day trip of shopping, dining and more! And thank you for your kind comments about our housekeeping staff and our Tiki bar. We hope to have you back to stay with us again soon!

We visit the Winds at least once a summer. With most rentals requiring a week's stay this is a great option if you only have a few days. We get the 2 bedroom suite with 4 full beds. Some rooms are more recently updated than others. It is nothing fancy but matches the flip flops and surf shorts you'll be wearing. Pool is beachside with a tiki bar for drinks and food. Book early and ask for an updated room - they sell out quickly during summer months.

We stayed in the Oceanfront Orchid Spa K, which was a top floor room with a great ocean view and a king sized bed.

The balcony deck was shared with only one other room and thus was relatively private. We sat out on the balcony when we could, for as long as we could because of the view and the breeze. Unfortunately the sun was brutal for most of the day because there is no cover. The rocking chairs furnished were not comfortable. We brought our own beach chairs up to the balcony deck and that helped a lot. The AC unit did vent hot air right onto the balcony, so we had to sit upwind of it.

The oceanfront balconies on the other rooms of our building were well covered and shady, but not much open to the breeze due to the trees. Also they were shared with everyone who walked by the rooms.

The bed was comfortable. The AC worked as did the dehumidifier (beeped to be emptied a couple times a day). The room was very clean.

The 'spa' tub was raised off the ground and was almost square, so one could take a bath in it but not really lay flat.

The windows only had shades and no curtains, so the light in the room was quite bright at 6:30am.

The rest of the room was adequate and clean, but not really remarkable.

The staff were competent and nice. The Thirsty Tiki bar served a good strawberry daiquiri.

We enjoyed the ocean. The pool area looked nice, but there was a lot of competition to have a chair by the pool. Not sure what the right strategy would have been. The pool does not open until 8am. At 7:30 there was no one. At 7:57 all the chairs and hammock were claimed for the day. We never saw an opening.

Breakfast is served everyday. The selection was good and the food was hot. The bacon and sausage were very good. The eggs were cooked correctly but had a strange texture (powdered eggs?) which was not appealing.

All in all, a pleasant stay, but not worth the price premium compared with other top hotels at Ocean Isle Beach for an oceanfront king bed.

Thank you so very much for taking the time to share your travel experience with us and with others. We are happy you enjoyed your stay with us and the view of the ocean. I am sorry you encountered some problems with the heat of the sun on the top floor balcony, we are taking your comments into consideration. The ocean front pool can get a little crowded, but we do have another larger pool on property. Thank you for your comments about our clean rooms, and our breakfast buffet, I can assure you the kitchen uses real eggs, not powdered. We hope to have you back to stay with us again soon!

We stayed at the Winds for a night on our way home from Myrtle Beach, and after taxes paid about 400 for an oceanfront "suite". The room was very nice and clean, but the grounds were not impressive. There was one walkway that had plants on both sides, and that's the extent of this "resort". The pool was ok but small, and the lobby is pretty dumpy. We had a decent stay, but overall I was pretty disappointed with this place

Thank you so very much for taking the time to share your travel experience with us and with others. We do emphasize that we are not a large, ultra luxurious resort you may find other places, but rather a smaller family owned and operated tropical seaside escape. Our resort does have 14 buildings with several rooms types, everything from 1, 2, and 3 bedroom suites to 4, 5 and 6 bedroom cottages with three pools. Our gardens are one of the highlights of our resort, I am sorry that you did not find them as impressive as most guests do. Thank you for your comments and we hope to have you back in Ocean Isle again soon!

I took my 2 brothers and one nephew, along with my husband for a 2-night beach mini-vacation on an after Fathers' Day visit... I LOVE THIS PLACE! I hope to book the whole 3rd floor of the east building, oceanfront soon for a family reunion! Your staff and family owners are the greatest! This place is unbelievably beautiful! (And very well maintained!)

Room Tip: Oceanfront suites & rooms are great! #101 and east side are best view of the ocean...

My wife and I stayed at the winds the last weekend of June and we had a great time. The location is very good, right on the ocean. We stayed in a Wisteria Suite which was nice. It was very clean. Once you enter the room there is a small den/kitchen area w/ a king bedroom in the back. My only complaint, and its a small one, is the front of the room could get pretty warm as the only a/c unit is in the bedroom. It wasn't too big of a deal since we weren't in the room much. We really enjoyed sitting out on the front porch/balcony w/ the rocking chairs. Each day was hot and muggy but it was very pleasant w/ the breeze. Getting to the beach is very easy, maybe a 1-2 minute walk from the room. All the staff we encountered was great especially Kim at the tiki bar, very friendly. We ate lunch at the Tiki bar 2 days and the food was really good. That was nice because we didn't have to leave the beach for too long. One nice perk is the free bike rental. We toured the island each morning after the free breakfast at the hotel. I would stay here again. Restaurant ideas: Sharky's was ok, decent food, great location. The Inlet View and Pogies were both really good. Great location, atmosphere, food and service.

Room Tip: If you want an ocean/beach view make sure to stay in one of the oceanfront buildings (they have othe...

We found our vacation at the Winds to be very nice. We enjoyed the beach, the pool, and bike riding to the pier. One of our favorite things about the resort is the breakfast in the garden room daily! When we felt like going on little excursions we were also nearby to quaint little museum, jet ski, and restaurants. Our room met all our expectations and was close to the second pool. Of course, the best part was the relaxing family time on the beach.
