We've been vacationing at OIB for over 30 years. When this location operated under the name of Second Street Bar & Grill; we'd find ourselves there for lunch or dinner several times during our stay. It was good, basic bar food with friendly service, cold beer on tap, and a nice, welcoming vibe. Not so much any more, apparently.
Tired from a day on the road, we checked into our hotel and walked over to Pelicans Perch, hoping for a quick meal and a chance to decompress. We found a bartender, a bunch of young, pretty girls (may or may not have been employees?) and a couple of other guys loitering about. Except for the fact that the one guy was behind the bar, I may have guessed that nobody was minding the store. There were no customers in the joint, unless aforementioned gaggle hanging at the end of the bar were customers. Didn't seem to be, though.
I sat down at the bar & ordered a beer while waiting for my husband. Mr. Barkeep wasn't exactly thrilled to be of service; he seemed in a hurry to get back to the conversation with said pretty young girls. I had paid for my drink, and when hubby came in & sat next to me, he had to literally shout to get service. One of the other men served up a beer and walked away without collecting. We quickly finished our drinks, left enough cash on the bar to cover the unpaid-for beer, and went to Sharky's.
It appears the owners put a lot of money into remodeling this place. Too bad he didn't give some attention to customer service.
