“Italian from the Homeland”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 14, 2013

Sami is the real thing. He was accepted to attend Iron Chef contest. He does the cooking with little help. The review about the wine was a legend of themselves as wine expert. The quality is above par, portions above par, and the resturant is super clean and neat. Where else, other than D.C. or New York, does the Chef come out to meet and great. Jenn, the co-owner, is constantly in touch with the customers. If there is a problem she fixes it immediately. The other staff do not have to be called back for service as they constantly roam the dinning area checking on customers. If only New Bern would come and support a wonderful Italian dinning experience.

“I don't recommend”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 29, 2013

I had high hopes but was disappointed: the food wasn't good. The wine list contained mediocre, over-priced selections. The bread was not Italian--it was frozen or some type of heat and serve rolls...not rustic Italian type bread, or even bread sticks. I ordered a salad with grilled shrimp. The salad bowl was hot to the touch and the lettuce was wilted: the server's explanation was that the shrimp had been cooked in the salad bowl...huh? The Italian dressing was not house made. I will not go back and will not recommend this restaurant. I've been to Italy 4 times and this was not 'northern' Italian or any kind of Italian for that matter.

Opened for Breakfast recently. Very good breakfast for the value. Still Sami does a great presentation and makes his food quality personal to those eating there.

“The worst meal we have ever eaten”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 27, 2012 via mobile

We went for lunch. The food was beyond terrible. My daughter and I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs, my other daughter ordered the vegetarian sandwich.
The pasta was undercooked and I'm not sure what they did to the tomato sauce. Ragu would have been a vast improvement. I believe the sauce was canned. The spaghetti was topped with a huge glob of mozzarella cheese on it. The meatballs were the frozen variety. There was nothing authentic or homemade! The vegetarian sandwich consisted of eggplant Parmesan, deep fried and looked like it was leftover from last nights dinner.
We barely ate any of our lunch and the waitress was very apologetic. There were only three tables occupied, and I found it disappointing that Jen, the owner, did not want to know what was wrong.
We al felt sickroom our stomach when we came home.
