“Great place in a great town”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 7, 2013

My wife and I spent 4 nights at the Aerie last week. The facility is gorgeous, the staff is helpful, and the food is absolutely top notch. Our last night there, Marty asked us if we wanted to move into another, larger, room just because it was open. About the only thing lacking is a nice front porch to sit out on, but the town itself offers plenty of such opportunities. New Bern offers chances for boating, sailing, kayaking, and hiking. There are a plethora of great restaurants, art galleries, and other shops. We will be going back again.

Room Tip: We stayed in both of the roomson the first floor. The `Duck Inn` is `cozy`, but plenty spacious eno...

My husband and I called at the last minute for a reservation, and the Aerie was very accommodating. The rooms were lovely, quaint, comfortable, and private. Both of us slept very well there. The service was great, the breakfasts were chef-quality food, presented so beautifully. The ladies who work there are the sweetest people I have ever met and the go out of their way to make your stay memoriable. I can't say enough good things about our stay at this B&B. We plan to stay there again whenever we visit New Bern again.

My husband and I made our first visit to The Aerie B&B to celebrate our first anniversary. We felt like old friends from the moment we arrived! I mentioned my unusual tea preference (chai & green, mixed) briefly during our initial chat. I was shocked the next morning when Michael recalled this little bit of info! The room was clean, comfortable and the breakfast was beautiful & delicious! We will certainly be back and would recommend this warm, friendly B&B to anyone who is visiting the quaint little town of New Bern, NC.

My husband and I have stayed in scores of B & B's--The Aerie is easily the best. Marty and Michael are perfect hosts--interesting to talk to and eager to do anything for you. The breakfasts, as noted by everyone, were SO wonderful and so elegantly served. The bed is extra comfortable and those SHEETS!!! WOW! The entire house is absolutely lovely and welcoming. We stayed in 2 different rooms. The first time we had the Tuscarora Suite, a king-sized bed with a jetted bathtub--a very large and lovely room upstairs. Get it if you can! Our second stay was in the smaller Duck Room on the first floor--also very quiet and charming. This room is less expensive, and we would stay there again in a minute (great for close access to the wonderful morning coffee you can take back to your room) but if you don't mind a few stairs, the Tuscarora Suite was perfection. We loved the afternoon wine on the flower-filled back patio. Parking was great, you can easily walk to the waterfront and several restaurants, the town of New Bern is cute and historic. We flew into the New Bern airport--only a few minutes drive to the Aerie--on our way to visit the Outer Banks of North Carolina. It's a great town to use as a jumping off point to the Outer Banks--and the Aerie B&B set the tone for a wonderful trip. We look forward to a return visit some day!

Room Tip: They are all great, but we REALLY loved the Tuscarora.

Aerie is a first rate B&B and richly deserves the accolades it receives. Husband and wife owners, Marty and Michael can't do enough for you to enhance your visit to New Bern. Directions, reservations, sightseeing suggestions, dining recommendations...just ask. A big breakfast prepared by Marty with 3 menu choices each day will get your day off to a great start. Different choices during each day of your stay. Great bed and linen and room furnishing. Quiet. A great spot to enjoy New Bern, with a nice location close to the Tryon Palace and within a 3-5 block walk of several good restaurants.

We went in mid May 2013 to the Aerie on the Romance Package. The hosts Marty and Michael were very welcoming and made us feel like family, the food was excellent, the room was victorian delicious. They gave us a cocktail hour of wines and hors d'oeuvres - delicious - and included a horse drawn carriage ride to dinner at the Chelsea Restaurant - delicious as well. We got a bottle of bubbly for our last evening there and a vase of flowers to take home. All in all a dazzling experience and we will go back.

Room Tip: We were on the top floor back in the Basin Street room, very private with a door out the back to a l...

The title says it all! This B&B surpassed my expectations in every category. From the beautifully appointed bedrooms with their SUMPTUOUS beds and bedding to the delectable (huge) breakfast, I was not in any way disappointed. I found myself saying over and over, this place is just beautiful! Upon arriving you are greeted by a friendly and knowledgeable staff and then invited to join your hosts, Marti and Michael, at 5:30, in the gardens for a welcome glass of wine. The gardens are in a word: LOVELY! Colors abound and the fragrance of honeysuckle lays heavy on the air. Aaaaahhh, I could have stayed a month just in the gardens!!
Marti and Michael are wonderful hosts!! I WILL be back!!!
