Great meals at reasonable prices. Lots of unique dishes - I like the fried calamari + blue cheese salad. Best draft beer in town. Can get crowded on Fri/Sat nights.

We went to New Bern for two days to celebrate a special anniversary. We wanted to have a special dinner while we were there and The Chelsea came highly recommended. From start to finish, we had a wonderful evening. The food was superb and the service excellent. Boots was our waiter and was very attentive and very knowledgeable about the menu. We also met the owner and chef, Shawn, who walked around the restaurant greeting guests and found him to be very gracious, welcoming, and knowledgeable.

We had the Shrimp and Grits, and the Cocoa Salmon. Both unusual dishes that were very delicious and well prepared. They were hard to choose from an exquisite and extensive menu but we absolutely made the right choices. We topped off the meal with delicious desserts; more hard choices to make as their list of desserts was one of the best we have seen at a restaurant. Actually we could not have gone wrong with any of their desserts as they all looked and sounded great! The Chelsea is not inexpensive but well worth the visit especially for a very special occasion and a memorable meal! We might even drive there and back for the evening just to have dinner there again!

This is a more expensive place to dine but is worth it. Can be casual or dressy. I reccomend the blue filet or the shrimp and grits.

We tried this place for lunch based solely on the good reviews. I had the shrimp and grits--excellent. My husband tried one of their specials. The food was plentiful and the lunch prices reasonable. We'd definitely go back.
