My experience started by placing a call directly to the inn last week. I explained I was looking for a pet friendly room for 2 nights, with a patio directly facing the ocean. The person taking the reservation, Theresa, not only booked me exactly what I was looking for but gave me a third night for an extremely low rate as part of their fall promotion. The ocean front room far exceeded my expectations; it was clean, large, with a full kitchen and 2 picture windows facing the ocean with a patio perched on the top of a sand dune. It also had a raised deck further out on the dune where we sat and enjoyed morning coffee and late afternoon happy hour. It was my first visit to the Outer Banks and was able to experience the full flavor of the Outer Banks.
The Colonial is probably not for everyone as it is an older Inn, I was not looking for the niceties of a chain motel, but rather a low cost way to thoroughly enjoy myself. The staff at the Colonial was very warm and accommodating. I would not hesitate to recommend this inn and plan on returning here on my next trip to the Outer Banks.More
