Description: This local, Outer Banks restaurant is now in it's 35th anniversary season. That's probably why it's called a 'Nags Head Tradition' by locals. Currently open for breakfast daily. Weekends - spring and fall - and daily in the summer season, there's a robust fruit and breakfast bar plus some whopping good breakfast platters. When dinner opens shortly, Specialties are real southern cooking - like fried chicken. Also a specialty - local, Outer Banks seafood - broiled, fried, and always good. Steaks and prime rib round out the dinner menu. The "R" Bar is great for a late night meal or a special drink. And if all this isn't enough, there's Roxie's Retail - great, flirty finds for your home or wardrobe. It's a family run organization that is glad to welcome locals and vacationers alike.

Enjoyed this fine dining establishment twice in a 36 hour period. We had dinner on the night of our arrival. A bountiful seafood dinner with salad bar and all the trimmings. Service was wonderful and food was splendid. We enjoyed breakfast the next morning there as well and it was even better than the previous nights dinner. Skip the buffet and order off of the menu, huge portions and good country cookin at its best. By the way, you can also shop for gifts, t-shirts and souvenirs in the restaurant.

We ate lunch at the Dunes one day and breakfast the next. Pulled pork B-B-Q was excellent (vinegar based). Great children's menu! Breakfast buffet was small, but good. Very reasonably priced!

The Dunes has an extremely popular breakfast buffet -- there are always people waiting outside. The buffet is quite nice, especially the fresh fruit. Otherwise, a standard breakfast buffet. Did not eat here for lunch or dinner, but the parking lot was always quite full.
