“OBX Favorite Restaurant”

For the third time this year, we enjoyed another great dinner at this Outer Banks restaurant favored by both locals and tourists. If you are an early bird, you enjoy a 10 or 20% discount depending on the season. Anyone can order from the lighter menu that is a selection of their most popular entrees supposedly in smaller portions (about a dozen shrimp, 10 scallops) and their regular dinner salad, side and hot bread...a really great deal. The regular menu includes numerous nightly specials that vary based on the local catches of the day. Non seafood items are available and are tempting but seafood here is the reason we come. The staff is professional and very accommodating. The owners are always there to greet you and to ensure your enjoyment. You will most likely have a short wait during the summer months but enjoy the waterside seating...you won't regret the wait. Closes during in late fall until spring so you may want to call ahead. (No reservations).

“Consistanty good”
Reviewed October 10, 2009

This restaurant is family owned and has been around for about 25 years. The atmosphere, being a cozy, yet classy place right on the water with a gazebo over the sound with live music in season, makes it the place we always want to go when we want a special dinner. The food is always excellent, and the menu is full of choices for anyone.
The cost of the meals is very reasonable.

We went early for the 20% off dinner and sat at a wonderful booth overlooking the water! Service was excellent and the fresh fish super! Loved it that a salad is included! We will be back!

“Great Seafood, Awesome View, Top Notch Service, Worth the Trip”
Reviewed September 8, 2009

We own a second home plus a rental home in Nags Head. This is the restaurant we take our visiting families and friends to when we are looking for an upper scale restaurant that always delivers quality seafood, great service and an unbeatable atmosphere. The owners great you with a smile and are truly glad you've chosen them.
Tale of the Whale is tops on our list because they continually win us over with quality food and service. We've never gone wrong with this choice. M & T

“OMG - Perfection on a Plate WITH an Awesome View”
Reviewed September 5, 2009

We drove up to the Nags Head area from Salvo just to go to this restaurant. I cannot say enough good things about this romantic place. Almost EVERY table has an amazing view of the water. Service was impeccable and could not be better. We never had to ask for refills and almost got annoyed from being asked "Is everything OK?" so many times. This is a pressed white tablecloth with candle setting. Somewhat expensive but WELL WORTH the visit(s). The food.... In one word "Magnificent". The bread is to die for but $2 a pop (after the free one), the seafood is as good as it gets, and it all comes out of the kitchen faster than any restaurant of its kind. Bottom Line = Don't miss out on this one! You would be crazy to go anywhere else...
