My family visited Red Drum during Hurricane Earl.
The place was empty but the staff was still very nice considering the weather / concern.
The portions were amazing an the food was great.

“Good beach rd. restaurant”
Reviewed September 29, 2010

After 4 days of eating seafood in OBX restaurants, I wanted to try some place with more options. We had passed Red Drum many times during our visits to NH, and tonight we decided to stop in for dinner. It was a Wednesday night in late Sept--definitely off season. It was not crowded and we were seated immediately.
The restaurant is very loud because of the open bar area that adjoins the dining area. The bar was full and quite noisy. However, we enjoyed our food so much that this did not bother us. The hostess was friendly, the server was friendly, and the service was quite good.
There are interesting choices on the menu some of which are fairly creative. I had a grilled chicken sandwich topped with swiss cheese and guacamole. It was very tasty, and the chicken was quite tender. My husband had one of the specials: grilled tuna topped with a black bean puree and guacamole. He thought it was well seasoned and cooked just right . It came with sugar snap peas and rice. The rice was the only thing that I thought was below par. It tasted like one of the rice-aroni packages.
We will definitely go back on our next trip to the OBX.

“Excellent food! Finally a place in obx...”
Reviewed September 24, 2010

Excellent food! Finally a place in obx that isn't a run down dump or super pricey! Very friendly and nice atmosphere. Average price $8-10 per person. Kids food was $5 (kinda expensive). Definitely will go back.

“Exceptionally Delicious, great ambiance, great service, 5 stars!!”
Reviewed September 21, 2010

After many disappointing meals in the outer banks ( my family vacations there every summer) I am super pleased to acknowledge the Red Drum for its delicious food. This place is def high quality in the taste dept and is topped off with generous portions. My husband and I have always eaten at seafood buffets..we leave full.. off of very tasteless cuisine at usually less than par atmospheres. however, at the red drum, you can eat an extremely tasty meal at the same price as a buffet..awesome fish, seafood, the steak is out of this world! something for everyone!!
