Description: Pamlico Jack's Soundfront Restaurant combines the natural beauty and local history of the Outer Banks with delicious island cuisine for a delightfully fun experience. Currently open Tuesday through Saturday, after April 3, we will be open 7 days a week. We serve fresh Gulf Stream seafood, certified Angus beef, tasty homemade pasta selections in generous portions and delectably decadent desserts. Lighter fare ranging from burgers to sandwiches, soups to salads and a variety of appetizers are also available. You'll certainly have no problem selecting your favorite vintage from our extensive wine list. We have had the honor of receiving the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence for well over 20 years in a row. You'll not suffer from dehydration either with our wide selection of beers, micro brews and custom cocktail beverages ranging from Jack's Hideaway Rum Jumper to the frozen Mariners' Mango Pain Killer! Our outdoor Rum Jumpers bar is an authentically replicated pirate ship, complete with sails and rigging, which leads you onto our large open-air soundfront deck with spectacular sunset views and live entertainment.

“Great Sunset, Food Good”
Reviewed September 24, 2012

We came early so that we could catch the sunset, but sat indoors as the wind was blowing stiffly from the west. We did get seated right at the window overlooking the sound, so we were still able to enjoy the sunset. Our party consisted of two couples enjoying their last night in OBX before heading home. We all had drinks, and I agree with another reviewer that my martini was one of the smallest I have ever been served. Our waiter questioned whether we wanted one check or two, and we indicated we would like two, and thanked him for asking before we ordered. Unfortunately, our checks ended up being totally mixed up, and as one couple ordered a bottle of wine and the other did not, the difference was significant. However, as we would have had to literally have needed to have him completely redo both checks, we settled amongst ourselves. Our food was good and we all enjoyed our meals, but the wine for two of us arrived quite late as we were well into the entree, and the twio desserts were served without the requested ice cream on both dishes. The latter was served when over half of the desserts had been consumed, but it was served. Overall, despite the service problems, this is a nice place. Food was good, just not exceptional. We had a good meal overall, flawed only by some service problems.

“Delicious! We'll be back!”
Reviewed September 19, 2012

We stopped in for an early dinner, turned out to be a fabulous choice. We started with the Lobster Mac & Cheese. You must do the same. It came with large chunks, yes chunks, of lobster in a creamy sauce with just the right amount of crunchy topping. It was so hot we needed to wait to dish it up. I had read that the She-Crab soup was also a specialty. I totally agree. I rate it the best on the Outer Banks.

My husband ordered the Tuna Bluewater, medium–cooked throughout-no red. The tuna was perfection: flaky, tender, seasoned to enhance the flavor of the tuna. (not over seasoned as some chefs tend to do) I ordered the Sea Captain’s Carolina Seafood Platter, which I rate as average. The best feature being the giant scallops.

The service was outstanding. The young man that was our waiter was welcoming, informative, and checked back at the perfect times. He shared information about the area as well as menu options and recommendations. Oh, we choose to sit inside.

We will go back!

“Rehearsal Dinner Party”
Reviewed September 17, 2012

The perfect place for our son's rehearsal dinner! His bride's family was here from Nebraska and they were really impressed with the location, the food and drink, the service, and the beautiful sunset from our private upstairs room. Doug, Todd and Rose treated us to an unforgettable evening!

“Great Meal”
Reviewed September 16, 2012

It was late Sunday night - we had just arrived in town. Our first choice restaurant wasn't open, and we found Pamlico Jack's. We arrived about an hour before closing and had the place to ourselves. Service was great - they didn't rush us. The food was excellent. Everyone enjoyed their meal (it was a week ago - I don't remember what anyone had!). We had planned to come back - but there were so many great restaurants in Nags Head that we didn't get back.

(By the way - I've seen this restaurant listed at Penguin Isle. And that is how it appeared on my charge card.)
