“Great Food Every Time in Semi Formal Setting”

We've been to Owen's several times over several decades, and it has never missed. The food is wonderful, and the setting and the service gentile and friendly. This is not a place for boisterous groups, restless children or plates stacked high with fried food at budget prices. Owens offers a wide range of selections from seafood to steak, poultry to pasta. If you're looking for a gracious setting, a sure bet on quality dining and are willing to pick up the tab, Owens is one of the best on the beach.

“Worth the money”
Reviewed August 21, 2010

We ate here our second night at OBX. Recommended from one of the locals. I had the filet oscar and it was excellent. You do get a good portion for the money. We also at at Basnights Lone Cedar cafe and it was a toss up between these two restaurants as far as which was the best. The food was very fresh at both places. We will definitely visit Owen's again.

“Not worth the high price”
Reviewed July 29, 2010

What a disappointment. I was told it would be expensive but worth it. It wasn't. My entree was $24, my husband's $29. That would be okay if the meal was awesome. It was just average. It was a little too fancy for our 12 year-old too. Go to Basnight's down the road, you'll be happy you did.

“New Favortie in the OBX”
Reviewed July 27, 2010

Great Filet Oscar, although priced at $37 it was worth it. By far the most expensive I've been to in OBX, but by far the best. Hush puppies and crabcakes were great. Mashed potatoes we're some of the best!!! FYI, get you mixed drinks from the bar as they will be terrible if you order from your table!! Cant wait to go again!

“Worth the trip”
Reviewed July 25, 2010

Owen’s is a true high end restaurant. My only true complaint is that they have too many tables in the main dining room, making it feel a little crowded; however, the service was extremely attentive.

We had the stuffed lobster, the sirloin steak, fried seafood platter, and the jambalaya. The stuffed lobster was a ½ of a 2 # lobster with the body cleaned and stuffed with a cheesy crab fondue mixture. My only comment was the lobster was cooked and then baked to form a crust over the stuffing. The baking dried out the meat in the claw.
The steak was perfectly cooked.

The steak came with homemade lobster stuffed ravioli and asparagus. It was a great combination.

Unfortunately, the fried fish platter and the jambalaya was not anything special. However, both dishes were cooked extremely well, but neither dish was unique to the restaurant.

For desert, we had the restaurant famous 14 layer cake. The cake was a little dry for my taste, but the other members thought it was delicious.
