I almost didn't play here, but did so at the last minute. Glad that I did. They do a great job of getting you onto the course even though they are very busy in the early morning. Actually, that is almost the only drawback, as I felt rushed to start and had no time to check out the putting green.
Once on the course, you find a serious test of your shot making. Watch some of the posted yardages on the par 3's. Scorecard didn't seem to match up and I found myself hitting over the greens on two occasions. Course itself is in great shape and staff is very friendly and helpful. The course requires you to hit the fairways which are often very small and in some cases blind shots. Back nine is harder than the front. Glad I played the back first as it left me with the front to regain some confidence.
Extremely picturesque throughout the course. Great views of the bay. You are right on it. Wind makes it tough, but with the views, you won't care as much when you lose a ball.
I would highly recommend. Not sure why this isn't the number one rated course in OBX.
