It's free. Leave ur shoes and be ready to work out ur legs. It's all worth it at the end. The views are spectacular. We visited early morning while it was sunny and mid 80s. The ocean breeze felt lovely and the sand was cool and easy on my feet. A must when in obx.

This must be seen in person to appreciate!! Pictures do NOT do this place justice. Sunset is perfect. Do be prepared for the winds and the sand.....can be painful to young legs. And be careful with a camera.

This is not an attraction with electronic games or the thrill rides of Busch Gardens. It is a wonderful contemplative quiet place where you can walk and climb on hundreds of acres of massive sand dunes. Climb to the top of the largest dune and see the best views of the Outer Banks from Ocean to Sound and miles north and south. An hour here is a rejuvenation for the soul. There is nearly always strong ocean breezes so you won't get hot even on a hot day. Leave your phone in the car and spend some time thinking what the Wright Brothers thought 100 years ago.

There's everything to like about this Park. Walking trails, restrooms at the parking area, shopping across the street at Kitty Hawk Kites, views of the sound and ocean, a place for the kids to burn off some of that stored up energy on the ride down before you check into your cottage.

We've been stopping here for years. This is the first year we've taken our stunt kite up to the top of the ridge/dune. The sand has shifted some and the climb from the store side is steep but the view is amazing; 360 degrees, and the kite-flying conditions couldn't be better anywhere. Wide open landscape of sand allows plenty of room to fly the stunt kite.
